Greenacres Country Market / J & J Dollard Soul Food & BBQ / Event Center, 2101 North Willison Road (Florence): 2021 1 comment
This barn-esque building is across the street from Step Saver Gas on the cut-through from I-95 to US-76 in Florence. I became aware of it through driving to the beach that way from time to time, and when I first noticed it, it was one of those SCDA flagged stores that featured local produce and products. I wanted to stop and check it out, but it always seemed like I was in a hurry and in the event I never did before it was gone. Apparently the name was Greenacres Country Market, and there is a site with some nice pictures of it here. It appears they were also a bakery.
Recently I noticed that the signage for that operation was gone and that the building was operating as a soul food & barbecue restaurant which doubled as an event space. Apparently that didn't last too long, and the building is now listed for sale.
Hanson Brick, 5100 Brickyard Road: Fall 2021 2 comments
The brickyard which used to be Richtex Bricks, then Hanson Brick and possibly a few others in there somewhere has changed again, this time to Watsontown Brick.
It's a more volatile industry than I might have thought.

Wells Fargo ATM, 657 Bush River Road: December 2021 no comments
I thought I had some pictures of this vanished ATM with the various closings which have happened on this lot, but in the event I don't seem to. At any rate, this was a stand-alone ATM, not associated with any branch. I used it a time or two before I noticed the credit-union ATM up the hill, after which I stopped paying the fee. I believe it post-dated the Kmart though I can't say for sure. Interestingly, google gives the ATM a Bush River Road address rather than the Arrowwood Road address of the main building.

Hwy 55, 1792 South Lake Drive: Open 3 comments
I'm guessing at the closing date here, but given that commenter Zach reported this in early January, I'm guessing that they probably closed out the year & month and then folded with the New Year. Since there was still a "hiring" sign in the window, I wasn't sure until I got out of the car and peeked in the (heavily tinted) windows that they were actually closed. While the furnishings were still inside, it looked pretty clear from the state of things that they were not set to re-open the doors.
I have seen this new-ish chain in a number of locations lately, including several spots on the coast, but I have never gotten around to eating in one.

UPDATE 18 Janurary 2022: Commenter Beth reports that in fact they are still open, so I have revised the post title with "Open". Always good to be wrong about bad news!
Milardo's Pizzeria & Sports Pub, 3264 US-17 Business (Murrells Inlet): Late 2021 no comments
I only ate at Milardo's once, probably about two years ago. I was not enthused about the place as both the pizza sauce and the garlic knots were unexpectedly sweet. It might have been nice have a second go some evening and eat on the roof, but in the event, I never got around to that.
It looks like they are setting up for a follow-on operation: Player 1 Up.
La Quinta Inn & Suites, 1538 Horseshoe Drive: 2020 no comments
Originally I had thought that this place was undergoing a renovation due to the work going on there, but now I am not sure. Google says the place has been closed for two years (which would put it back to the start of the pandemic) *and* marks it as permanently closed. So I don't know if the work is asbestos abatement before they knock it down, or an upfit for another brand than La Quinta.
Anyway, it's definitely closed though it's odd they haven't taken the sign down.
Waffle House, 8288 Two Notch Road: December 2021 (Open Again) 3 comments
This Waffle House was our go-to for Christmas dinner for a number of years. In the event this year we had to go out to Clemson Road. Google claims this location is "temporarily closed", but I wonder if someone isn't trying to consolidate this lot with the neighboring Circle K to get a space large enough for something to rival the new Quik Trip across the street.

As mentioned in the comments, this now looks more like a rebuild, so I'm marking the title with "Temporary":
UPDATE 7 June 2022 -- This location is open again. And after all that work, it looks like... A Waffle House:
Nostalgia Antiques and Collectibles, 500 Beltline Boulevard: 21 November 2021 1 comment
Although I must have driven by it many times, I was not aware of Nostalgia Antiques on Beltline. Judging by their Facebook page, I might well have found some items there, probably more on the "Collectibles" side of things.
You can see their closing announcement on their Facebook, but you might want to check it in the future as well, as they intend to continue selling online and out of their home.
