Zale's Jewelers / Jimmy Jazz / Airbrush Unlimited: Summer 2019 (etc) no comments
I never did a closing for Zale's Jewelers, but it was a long time occupant of this second level storefront, just out of Macy's going left. After that, it was Jimmy Jazz for a while, as you can barely see in the second picture above. Most recently, it was an airbrush shop for tee-shirt customization. Judging by the google reviews, they did a good job, but were gone by sometime in the late summer of 2019. I'm not entirely sure, but it looks as though they may still have a location elsewhere in the area.
Albert's Deli, 7358 Parklane Road: 14 February 2020 1 comment
Back in the day:
I did a closing for this building when I referenced that it had at one time been Andy's Deli. I ate there once that I can recall, and while it was OK, it was never going to be one of my regular stops. The current owner is not "Albert", but Adrianne Davidson, and according to this ColaDaily article, she has decided to sell the building and concentrate on catering from the 1901 Main Street location, which I was not aware of.

Victoria's Secret, 7201 Two Notch Road: January 2020 2 comments
Well, Victoria's Secret has sashayed out of Columbia Mall. Interestingly (or not) theirs is the second store-locator website I have visited lately that is very parsimonious about listing stores (though it is inspiring in other ways). At any rate, locally there are remaining stores at Sandhill and Columbiana.
I find the mall self-promotional poster interesting in that not only did they not take it down when Victoria's left, but in that it still touts Charlotte Russe, which has been gone for about a year now. I have not seen anything about the County plan for the property lately. It seems like whatever they are going to do, they should start it soon.

Robbie's Pool Hall / The Roc - Rocaways Reggae Club aka Club Rockaway, 7034 Two Notch Rd: 2014-ish 4 comments
I don't know anything about The Roc other than that it is across from Columbia Mall, has not been open that I can remember, and hosted poetry open-mike nights in 2014.
Presumably there were reggae acts there, but if so, they don't seem to have left any google traces.
UPDATE 7 February 2020: Added Robbie's Pool Hall to the post title based on the comments.
UPDATE 17 September 2021 -- Here are some more pictures of the property:
Hardee's, 7019 Parklane Road: January 2020 7 comments
It seems to me I have blogged an unusual number of Hardee's closings recently. I'm not sure if that says anything or if it's just coincidence or local conditions, but here's another.
This store is on Parklane, basically in a Columbia Mall outparcel, and not too far down from the local McDonald's. I'm not sure how long it was in this location, but it's been at least since the mid-90s. I do like this google review for the place:
Once got a burger that looked just as good in the ads.
That *shouldn't* be high praise, and yet..
Are there any Red Burrito locations of Hardee's left in Columbia?

Bojangles, 7385 Two Notch Road: December 2019 2 comments
I was actually in this Bojangles earlier this year when I had a hankering for a sausage biscuit, and I was perfectly happy with it. The restaurant is in a decent spot with plenty of drive-by traffic on Two Notch, so I'm not sure what the story here was.
At some point, I hope to get a shot of the whole building in brighter light, but for now this will have to do.

UPDATE 7 February 2020 -- As mentioned in the comments, this building has been razed and will be rebuilt (still as a Bojangles):
UPDATE 14 May 2020 -- The new building is going up:

Boeshreen, 2630 Decker Boulevard: October 2019 (Branching out) no comments
Boeshreen is the follow-on operation to Northeast Market & Coffee House in this much restauranted storefront on Decker. I ate there once, and found the food to be good though the layout was a bit confusing, and I couldn't make it a regular stop because there was no fresh-brewed ice tea.
I noticed recently that they have added Sammi's Deli branding to their operation (after also adding a sno-cone setup). It may be time to stop in again.
UPDATE 22 July 2020 -- Here are some better pictures I just ran across:
However, based on a more recent drive-by, I think they may have dropped the Sammi's branding at this point.
Rush's, 2540 Decker Boulevard: 2 November 2019 19 comments
To the best of my memory, I ate at this Rush's sometime shortly after it opened, which is the only time I have been in one of their stores. I'm not sure why that is, as it was fine, and I was impressed with the state-fair-like presentation of the fries in a paper cup.
I admit to being a bit surprised at this closing, as I figured with the county takeover of Decker Mall, they would have a steady lunch business of civil servants crossing the parking lot for a bite.
The State says however that it was a 40 year old building that had age and maintenance issues and:
“At some point you just have to let it go.”
The stonework facings are definitely of another era, though not quite as distinctive as the old Popeye's buildings.
This closing makes two vacant restaurant buildings on the Decker Mall property, which seems odd. As I said with the county office workers (and law enforcement) nearby, I don't see why the site couldn't support a new restaurant, though perhaps either building would have to be razed and rebuilt.

UPDATE 4 February 2021 -- To be Cod Tail Seafood & Chicken, a Charleston outfit. I really do not like that name!

Piggly Wiggly / Pier 1 Imports / Hines Furniture, 7007 Two Notch Road Suite B: September 2019 20 comments
I think somebody once commented on the site that this building was originally a Piggly Wiggly, but I can't find that comment right now. I don't remember that, and I don't really recall it being a Pier 1 either, though I think that may have been when I was living out of town.
At any rate, it has been furniture store Hines for a good few years now, and apparently would have continued so if the owners were willing to renew the lease.
That they were not implies they must have another tenant already in mind -- I don't think this is an area where you give up a sure thing on just the speculation that you can do better. I guess we'll see.

UPDATE 2 October 2019: Based on the comments, I have added Piggly Wiggly to the post title.
UPDATE 30 June 2020: Update tags.
UPDATE 12 August 2022 -- Commenter Jimmy Freeman sends this shot of the building as a Pig saying
This is Piggly Wiggly that later became Pier 1 Imports, the Pig moved next to Kmart then later back to this location when building was remodeled, years later went out of business and Pier 1 opening.
Piggly Wiggly first moved due to church stop letting customers park in their parking lot due to the Pig selling alcohol
(Also added a closing date to the post title, which I had forgotten to do).
UPDATE 13 August 2022 -- Here are two more pictures from commenter Jimmy Freeman. He says he expects some dispute but that it is the same store:
Staples, 2746 Decker Boulevard: 6 September 2019 5 comments
I guess the writing was on the wall after this Staples cut their hours way back recently.
This was probably the Staples I went to most often over the years (with the Devine Street location a close second). In general it seemed to be a well stocked and run store, and I picked up my share of printer paper, hard drives, computer media, headphones, ethernet hubs, pens, post-its and other office and computer paraphernalia. The only knock on it I can think of is one that seems to be general to Staples as a whole: It always seems to take a bit longer to check out than it should.
Although they have posted a closing sign, there is not a sale going on, and the various "inventory" tags inside the store make me think they will be relocating the merchandise to other stores rather than doing a clearance.
