Church's Chicken, 4000 North Main Street: Early March 2018 no comments
Here's another Church's Chicken gone. This one is recent enough that almost the only sign that the place is closed is the fact that its not open: All the signage, drive through menus and fixtures are still in place.
That's a pretty good looking piece of pie.

Nathan's Famous / Chester's, 129 Rolling Meadows Lane (I-26 Exit 119 / US-176): Late 2017 1 comment
Nathan's/Chester's was the follow-on operation in this I-26 rest stop location to Maggie Mae's.
I'm wondering, since the closing sign is somewhat similar, if it were under the same ownership as the Dutch Fork Nathan's. I'm going with late 2017 as the closing date as the place is not yet fully stripped inside.

UPDATE 30 August 2021: Add a real street address, update tags and add map icon.
Hardee's, 917 South Lake Drive: Circa Late 2007 / Early 2008 14 comments
Noticed this abandoned Hardee's on South Lake Drive/SC-6 at the I-20 intersection the other day. From what I can tell, Hardee's of Red Bank has relocated to 1910 South Lake Drive, inside a service station. I'm not sure when this happened, but judging from the codition of the building, it was a good while ago.
It sits on a surprisingly large lot, LoopNet says 2.09 acres of which apparently 1.6 acres is included with the building (which, would, I think, have to be razed at this point).
UPDATE 13 March 2018 Updating the closing date in post title from 2000s to Circa 2005 based on the comments.
UPDATE 21 July 2018 Updating the closing date again.
UPDATE 19 August 2019 -- Some new pictures in advance of the tear down to build a truck stop:
UPDATE 19 June 2021: Adding tags.
Pancho's Mexican Restaurant, 5400 Forest Drive: 7 March 2018 (reflagged) 3 comments
My memory is a big vague, but I believe this restaurant (in the former Redbone Alley/Corky's building) actually started out as a San Jose, but that was causing some heartburn at the old Forest Drive San Jose which is now Pasta Fresca, so it was reflagged as Pancho's while still being in the San Jose family.
For whatever reason, that was undone on 7 March, and it is now officially a San Jose again (though some of the signs have yet to be changed).
Moriarty's, 902 Gervais Street Suite B: March 2018 3 comments
The Free Times reports that Moriarty's on Gervais is closed for good. The Irish bar, in the old Wild Hare location (for which I was sure I had done a closing, but in the event apparently not), opened in March of 2016.
Sherlock Holmes was unavailable for comment.

Pawleys Island Chapel, February 2018 (moved, temporary) no comments
The Chapel has been scheduled for a move for a good while now, as storm damage must be repaired, but ongoing weddings delayed the event until after New Years.
The Chapel was very little above high water even during normal tides. During spring or storm tides, the situation was worse, but initially the plan was not to raise it at all, as the permits would only allow for fixing the pilings at the existing height. My understanding is that this changed late in the game, so perhaps when the building is moved back, it will sit at a slightly more secure level.
Tijuana Flats, 106 Percival Road Suite 200: 4 March 2018 no comments
My sister mentioned that she had heard this place was closing, so I was able to get some interior shots in advance of that last week. I wish I had gotten the hot sauce bar, which was an impressive array of pumps.
Initially, I wasn't quite sure what to make of Tijuana Flats (and kept thinking it was Tortilla Flats for some reason..). It wasn't like a Moe's or Qdoba building hand-held burritos, and it wasn't really a sit-down Mexican restaurant, but somewhere in between the two. I finally figured it out though, and liked the place pretty well. In the summer, the front sidewalk was generally in the shade by the time I would get there, and it was nice to eat outside. In the winter, I liked to go the the back of the store and sit in the sunshine coming through the back windows. My only real criticisms are that I thought they needed a drink stand so you didn't have to go begging for refills (which they were happy to provide, but it's a quirk of mine) and I thought they should go with the sit-down Mexican restaurant concept of free salsa with the chips.
I'm pretty sure this is the first closing for the fairly new Jackson Square strip mall, though of course the whole former strip mall on the site was closed and razed years ago. The Tijuana Flats Lexington location remains open.

UPDATE 13 December 2021 -- Now a Vampire Penguin:
Also adding map icon.
Capital Bank, 6041 Garners Ferry Road: 15 May 2015 1 comment
Here'a another vacant bank branch, though this one closed a good while ago. I find it a little interesting because Capital Bank has not really been in Columbia all that long in the first place as I recall it. Looking at Wikipedia. Also, it appears that Capital was bought out late last year by First Horizon so the remaining branches are not really the same company though the name will continue to be used except in TN.
It was raining a bit when I took these pictures and I was trying to not get the lens wet. There is a much better picture at the LoopNet listing, which also shows better that part of the building is still occupied by Ellis Physical Therapy.
