Noticed this abandoned Hardee's on South Lake Drive/SC-6 at the I-20 intersection the other day. From what I can tell, Hardee's of Red Bank has relocated to 1910 South Lake Drive, inside a service station. I'm not sure when this happened, but judging from the codition of the building, it was a good while ago.

It sits on a surprisingly large lot, LoopNet says 2.09 acres of which apparently 1.6 acres is included with the building (which, would, I think, have to be razed at this point).

UPDATE 13 March 2018 Updating the closing date in post title from 2000s to Circa 2005 based on the comments.

UPDATE 21 July 2018 Updating the closing date again.

UPDATE 19 August 2019 -- Some new pictures in advance of the tear down to build a truck stop:

  1. I know someone who used to work here. It's been closed since 2005 or so.

  2. 2005 seems about right, this side of the road became harder to get on and off from the interstate once they widened the road and changed the intersection at I-20. I saw on Facebook that this building was going to demolished the same as the old San Jose in downtown Lexington. Nice to see some of these abandoned building being razed.

  3. I initially became familiar with this stretch of Red Bank around 2007-08 and know it was abandoned and boarded up by then and feel it’s only a matter of time before this building has a date with the excavator.

  4. I grew up out there and remember when that thing was actually a Hardees and not an eyesore waste of space! Its definitely been boarded up since the early 2000s.

I don't understand why these buildings are allowed to stay boarded up for decades like this. It seems like it would be more useful if they razed it and turned it into an Arby's or something.

  5. The hardest part of that is finding someone willing to take on the space...

  6. Still has nothing on the one in Pinconning, Michigan that's been abandoned since 1997. All the stuff's still inside, too.

  9. Folks the real estate signage that was listed as 'under contract' has changed to 'sold' (making me think that the rumored QT is moving forward)...

  10. Folks this building is in the process of being reduced to rubble (meaning that the QT construction is about to begin)...

  12. This building is gone man! Also, the small, and not very nice, gas station next to it is gone as well. Now, they need to turn the restaurant space behind this lot into an Outback! Or another mattress store. Or, if we're really lucky, another McDonald's cause lord knows Lexington needs more :)

  13. Folks the QT on this site is NOW OPEN as QT makes its way into the Columbia market...

  14. I remember stopping at that Hardees a couple of times on the way of a road trip. I live near exit 55, about 5 minutes or so. The Hardees has been closed for nearly 15 years I would think. Also the Advanced Auto Parts used to be across the Hardees on the corner. How long ago did that auto parts store close? Curious.
