Trident Pain Center, 4711 Sunset Bouleveard: Fall 2021 (Moved) no comments
I thought I would be able to read the "move" date from the door sign, but in the event my picture came out to be more of my hands and the camera than the actual sign. At any rate, Trident Pain Center has moved from this office park on Sunset down the hill from I-20 to 176 McSwain Drive.
Which leaves only the question: What have they got against Robert Carter?
Pitts Insurance Team, 9450 Two Notch Road: 2021 (Moved) no comments
This section of Two Notch is not actually on the main road, but is sandwiched between that and the railroad tracks, and is accessible only at or near the light for Spring Valley. I had done a closing for a bank in the area, but had never driven back towards the east where there is a tailor shop at the end of this spur.
This building is the last one before that shop, and as you can see from the pictures, is built on a bit of an incline, so the parking lot is noticably lower than the street. I like the building and the lot, and the lack of traffic -- it's a good place for a destination business. I'm not sure when the Pitts office moved, but I don't recall seeing the real estate sign before, so I'm going to just call it 2021. According to their door sign, you can now find them at 8313 Two Notch.
Nutritition Warehouse / Carolina Barbell, 9600 Two Notch Road Suite 14: 2017-ish no comments
I'm not clear if Nutrition Warehouse and Carolina Barbell gym were co-located in this storefront, or if Carolina Barbell came afterwards, and google isn't helping me out. Either way, neither is there now.
I don't believe I had ever driven back into Sesqui Station, and none of it is visible from Two Notch, so I was rather surprised to see the size of the place, though it is hardly bustling now. As I recall there was quite a controversy about it back in the day as it was built on land carved out of Sesqui State Park -- something that really isn't supposed to happen.
Shell Station, 3967 West Palmetto Street (Florence): 2007 1 comment
The earliest Google Steetview I can find for this lot is from November of 2007, and shows the station still standing here, though apparently already closed. The next view from January of 2008 already shows the building the the process of being torn down.
LoopNet says it is a 1.1 acre site, and has been sold, so presumably a new convenience store/gas station will go up here as it is on an I-95 exit (Exit 157).
Dougal's Thrift and Consignment, 7971 North Woodrow Street Suite 4: 23 November 2019 no comments
Dougal's was the follow-on operation in the storefront to Fins Aquatic Livestock & Supplies. I don't get out this way often, so I can't say much about it, although it's always nice to find a notary outside the national stores where it always turns out "We don't do those". The specific closing date was given by the owner in a google review post.
It looks like I have previously tagged shops in this plaza as "Woodrow Street", so I need to change all of those to "North Woodrow Street" at some point.
Dave's Place, 811 US 1 (Lugoff): 30 September 2021 1 comment
When I was growing up, we used to drive through Lugoff probably more than a half dozen times a year, visiting relatives in Hartsville. After I-20 came through, I went that way much less frequently, though sometimes I would drive the US routes to Fayetteville when I lived there, and the Interstates were still double-nickle. During the last ten or more years though I have probably only been there once or twice, and the only place I ever really remember is the building with the car on the roof.
Which is to say I had not heard of Dave's until it came up in the comments, but a nice sunny afternoon seemed like a good time to make the drive. It looks like it was a relaxed sports-bar right on the main drag. I met a resident while I was there, who has, I think has found a good home.
