Carolina Title Loans, 2737 Sunset Boulevard: 2 October 2017 1 comment
This title loan operation was the follow-on to Bojangles at this address. Judging by the comments on that post, Carolina Title Loans opened here in January 2014, giving them a 3+ year run.
I don't have a phonebook with me to verify this, but I believe the Knox Abbott address tagged as the new location was in fact already a Carolina location, making this more a consolidation than a move.

Smart Choice Title Loans, 1221 Broad River Road: February 2017 5 comments
Here is the second Smart Choice location to feature here. This is an interesting little strip building of Broad River just downhill from the Bush River Road intersection. For some reason, this storefront seems to have a logo which the one on Two Notch did not.
I looked briefly for the Augusta Road location, but could not find it in the few minutes I was in the area.

Smart Choice Title Loans, 7716 Two Notch Road: February 2017 6 comments
Commenter Bart Laber reports that this whole company is gone as of February, and indeed their website is now just a "parked" page, though the old page can still be found on the Wayback Machine. Judging from that, it appears to have been an SC company as the initials would imply.
The address given on the door sign is the old Shoney's etc building in Dentsville.

Treasures / His House / Quick Cash, 1327 Broad River Road: 2010s 6 comments
Noticed this defunct, rocket logo themed, title loan operation on Broad River Road the other week. I can't find out anything about it in my recent phonebooks, but google suggests it was Quick Cash. Before that it was apparently two different thrift stores, Treasures and a His House location.
Absolute Title Loans, 1410 Sunset Boulevard: 2012 14 comments
I was wondering what business this nice little old house next Triangle Lock & Safe on Sunset was. Looking at the pictures I took, I couldn't even get a street number (for some reason I didn't get out for a closer look at the time), but google maps came through and identified it as 1410 Sunset and the former site of yet another of the Midlands title loans operations. They listed in the Feb 2012 phonebook, but not the Feb 2013 one, so I am tagging the closing date as 2012.
Carolina Title Loan, 1929 Broad River Road: Winter 2016 3 comments
This former Pizza Hut in front of Intersection Center had been a title loan operation at least since 2012 and is now again vacant.
Since these old Pizza Hut buildings are so distinctive, I guess you have to decide whether people referring to you as "that place in the old Pizza Hut" as a plus or a minus..

UPDATE 24 June 2021 -- This is to be K Seafood Market:

Reliable Loan Office, 1304 Assembly Street: February 2016 (moved, sorta) 3 comments
Moe Levy's Reliable Loan Office was sort of a portmanteau operation with the signs promising Gun Shop, Coins Jewelry, Army Surplus & Camping Supplies under the Pawn marquee. In this spot since 1950, they looked poised to close entirely after the main Moe Levy's closed.
In fact, they did close in February 2016 with no definite plans announced as this State story details.
In the event, they found a new space at 1727 Laurel Street, and decided to continue with changes as related here. They are no longer pawnbrokers and will concentrate on the Army surplus side of the business as Moe Levy's Army Store. This State video has pictures of the new location and remarks by the owner which are interesting on their own because people just don't talk like that anymore and I miss it.
Acadian Plaza, 2210 Decker Boulevard: February 2016 12 comments
I have noticed this little strip on Decker driving by over the years, mostly because of Piper's Hair Care uwhich I never could quite figure out if it were closed or not. (It was). Now the whole place is empty and for let.
It's certainly not the worst looking real estate on the corridor.
UPDATE 17 June 2021 -- This place has now been gutted:

UPDATE 15 September 2021 -- remodeling continues:
UPDATE 30 September 2022 -- Apparently after the rebuild, this will be newly branded as Plaza Del Sol, and and insurance agency is already slated to feature:
TitleMax 4624 Devine Street / Liberty Income Tax 4630 Devine Street: 4 October 2015 16 comments
One of the most iconic images from the flood was the inundation of the TitleMax building on Devine Street. Some other pictures were actually just as incredible, but the bold color scheme of this storefront really made it stand out. One such image is here, and one shot from the other direction is here.
I finally got a chance to take a look at the damage last Saturday (17 October 2015), and it is even more severe than I expected in that while I thought the building would be a total loss, I was somewhat surprised to see the lot a total loss as well. I'm not sure it comes across well in these pictures (shot against the sun for the most part unfortunately), but the whole lot on the Liberty side of the building has dropped at least three feet.
The Free Times suggests that the site will not be rebuilt:
"That was built in the floodway; it would never be allowed to be built today," says Erich Miarka, program director of the Gills Creek Watershed Association. "Since that building was completely destroyed, I don't think they'll be allowed to build there again."
As an aside, I'm not sure how you get two street numbers offset by six in the same building, but that's what seems to have been the case.
UPDATE 19 January 2016 -- TitleMax now has a sign up for their new location:
UPDATE 18 February 2016 -- It appears something is about to happen here, as the property is now fenced off. My guess would be a demolition:
UPDATE 28 March 2019 -- Well, today was the last day for this iconic building. It was still partly standing when I took the first couple of shots, but when I got done eating and drove across the street, it was pretty well flattened. I expect it will be on WLTX tonight, as they had a camera crew there:
UPDATE 19 January 2021 -- It appears a carwash will be going in here:
Also, adding a map icon.
