Bank Of America ATM & Drive-Through, 1301 Gervais Street: 2026 no comments
I know this ATM was in service as late as January of 2026. I'm not sure about the drive-through lanes, BOA has stopped most of that at their branches. The space is fitting up to be another bank: Huntington Bank.
Elevate Social Club / Ruckers, 735 Meeting Street: 2025 / Never Opened 1 comment
Actually this space is larger than it looks as the building is pretty deep. I can tell that from the StreetView shots, but did not notice it as I was driving by.
Elevate Social Club was evidently a membership club that closed in late 2025, with Ruckers set to open in the space by early 2026. In the event, the West Columbia zoning board determined that Ruckers would recieve most of its revenue from alcohol (a bar monetizing alcohol, imagine that!) and would not be allowed to open under that business model, or any "club" concept. The owners didn't think they could make the transition to a restaurant model, and abandoned the idea.

Slim Chickens, 456 Killian Road: 24 August 2026 no comments
Going for the Chicken-Trifecta, here is the Slim Chickens on Killian Road, across from the Freddy's.
It appears now that the chain's move into the Midlands has failed, and the only stores left in South Carolina are in Florence, Myrtle Beach and Moncks Corner.
The State had the story, such as it is.
Wing Shack, 1305 Knox Abbot Drive: July 2026 1 comment
The reviews for this wingery which replaced Schlotzsky's which closed in 2024 look to be pretty good, however one of the last reviews which is from around July mentions that the hours are gettin erratic, which is One Of The Signs, so I'm going with July for a closing date. However arguing against that somewhat is the fact that the curb signage is still out which I wouldn't expect to last long past a closing.
Anyway, all I know about the place is that it as part of a chain which is still around, and actually has some non-chicken items I would order.

La Rumba, 1745 Decker Boulevard: 29 September 2026 7 comments
The Richland County Sheriff's Department has closed nightclub La Rumba on Decker right next to Decker Plaza:
"I'm all for going out and having a good time, but going out and getting shot is not having a good time," Lott said on Tuesday.
The Sheriff said law enforcement had responded to 83 other calls at La Rumba in the last two years, which also contributed to the closure. "I cannot allow these clubs to stay open when people are dying, when people are getting shot," Lott said.
The Google reviews for the place are "interesting" as well.
Stubbs Opticians / The Elephant Trunk / Jack Auto Sales / Seici Auto Sales / Solid As A Rock / etc, 2931 Platt Springs Road: 2000s 3 comments
Commenter "Near Springdale" has pointed out this building a number of times over the years, but I was never exactly sure which one he meant until recently. In the event, 2931 Platt Springs Road had been a number of things over the years. In general I can't get close enough on StreetView to read the signs, but the post title has some of the tenants, and here is an article on The Elephant Trunk antiques store, which apparently opened in 2014 and closed in 2020. Currently the signage for Jack Auto Sales is still up, but it's not clear there are any cars there.
Yelp suggests that "Solid As A Rock" reported themselves as "We are a Metaphysical shop that has many handmade items and more. We have crystals, candles, incense, and much more. We also will be having a coffee and tea bar coming soon."
The LoopNet listing comments that the building was built in 1994 and "is in very good shape".
