I think Columbia may be over-chickened. At least this place (a Walmart outparcel) shared the parking lot with Popeye's, was a block away from Chick-Fil-A, and sat within a mile of a Bojangles. I'm sure that it didn't help that it was a new chain in the Midlands, and that its sister store had already closed.
Anyway, no sign on the door, but the place is locked up with the condiments still on the tables.

If we agree that the Columbia area is "over chickened" can we also agree that we're at critical mass insofar as Mexican food goes??
You can't throw a rock in this area without hitting a handful of places slinging Mexican food. Full disclosure, I'm a bit of a foodie and yes you can read that as food snob. I still lament the closing of El Chico on Bush River, as it was consistently good and I knew the gentleman who owned it.
Blessedly, there are a few to recommend: El Jimador on Knox Abott, Tacos Nayarit also on Knox Abott, and Real Mexico on Bush River.

Tried it once. I was thoroughly unimpressed.
I also feel like this opened right around the time Popeye's (which is very close by) blew up. That's to say nothing of trying to open a full-on restaurant in a post-COVID world. Maybe they'd have done better if the time frame had been different.

They may have done better if the breading had some flavor. That was the most bland chicken you can imagine. Surprised they stayed open as long as they did.

Hmmm, shutting down stores in the US, but ramping up production in the UK and Europe? Probably a better move than trying to open in markets already saturated with fried chicken choices...

Too many chicken restaurants, Mexican restaurants, gas stations, tire/oil places, and seems like the drive-through coffee places are increasing.

Worth noting that KFC is doing better in Asia (especially Japan) and Europe than it is in the United States.

Wow! That was quick!
I was never a fan of chicken tenders so this place held absolutely no interest to me. Same with the Starbuck's next door. I've stopped by their other neighbor Popeye's on occasion but I tend to like Bojangle's Dirty rice with sausage bits than the more authentic organ meat.
Truth be told that location is NOT convenient. It's more suited for a sit-down restaurant. Then again, the Ryans and the Chinese buffet place there didn't take off there either.
No wonder we can't get anything nice here...
