Slim Chickens, 2089 North Beltline Boulevard: Early July 2026 10 comments
Slim Chickens replaced (after a hiatus) another chicken operation Golden Chick which closed in 2019. Slim Chickens opened here in March of 2024 giving them somewhat over two years in operation.
I'm not a chicken fan, but my sister & niece tried it once, were not impressed, and I don't believe went back.
None of the news stories give any reason for the closing though commenter John indicated that he witnessed staffing issues there. Personally, I think that being on the same block as Zaxby's can't have helped.

I think I may need to add a new sign, to wit:
If your restaurant has no AC and I come back three weeks later and it *still* has no AC, and it's Columbia SC in mid July, you may have a problem!

The Wendy's Mr Bo was asking about was mentioned in the Golden Chick post mentioned in the main post (and the Wendy's featured here as such is linked on the Golden Chick post).
I ate at Golden Chick a few times and it was ok...wasn't my favorite...I haven't been to Slim Chickens.
I also think there's an a href HTML tag didn't close like it should have.

Bring back the Wendys! Used to go here almost everyday after school at A.C. Flora. Miss those dave singles and the frosty's!

It was an ok place but not good enough to make to prefer it over Zaxby's.

Went into this one right when it opened. They had operational issues and the franchisee representatives from Charlotte were there trying to get things operating smoothly.
The food was really good. The chicken was clearly fresh and not frozen and everything was freshly prepared. A little pricey, though, but not out of line.
I've gone to the Killian Road one a bunch of times. Unfortunately, I rarely get to that end of Killian any more.

And before that, wasn't that space a Wendy's?
I've got a Slim Chickens down the road from me on Garner's Ferry (Also close to a Zaxby's) I've never been in there.
I'm just not a big fan of Chicken Tenders and their menu seems to be almost exclusively that.
I'm more of a fan of the nugget which happily the Bojangles also just down the road kept on their menu (Bo-Bites)
