Red Door Tavern, 134 1/2 State Street: 6 December 2014 1 comment
The Free Times reports that this State Street loft has closed as of early December.
I really like comedy and make the trek to Charleston fairly often for improv, so I don't know why I never made it across the river. It's funny, I guess.
Gamecock Stop / Mrs. Monogram / Boykin & Co, 2701-D Rosewood Drive: November 2014 4 comments
I first became aware of Gamecock Stop when it moved into the old Chippendolls location on Rosewood, and in fact I did a closing on it when it did a semi-move within that space.
After that, they they moved up Rosewood to 2701, a location for which I have done a number of closings. At some point after they moved, both Mrs. Monogram and Boykin & Co started sharing the space. I guess it's clear enough what Mrs. Monogram did, but I am unsure exactly what Boykin & Co, which had top billing in the final configuration, was.

Cutler & Associates, Inc., 5717 Two Notch Road: 2014 no comments
I did a previous closing for this building when it was Lexus Of Columbia.
Insurance brokers Cutler & Associates were the follow-up business in this location. Sadly, it appears that Mr. Cutler has passed on after what sounds like a full and fruitful life.
UPDATE 10 May 2016 -- This building is now Pool Tables Plus:

Thrifty Mart / Food Town / Food Lion / Discount Books / Spherion / Call Center, 1313 Bush River Road: 1990s etc 9 comments
I've posted this building before, but for a store which was actually in Boozer Shopping Center. Now that the building has been completely remodeled and is open as Auto Zone, I'm taking the opportunity to make a post which more correctly describes its history.
You can look at the comments on this post (which I need to totally revamp and correct) for some of that history, and this article describes the sale of the property to Auto Zone and mentions the call center tenant (which was not Spherion, which commenter Adder tags as a temp contractor).
Jiffy Lube, 7452 Two Notch Road: November 2014 5 comments
Well, you've seen the signs, now you can get $10.00 off.
I went to this Jiffylube near the I-20 interchange on Two Notch several times. While sitting in the heat and watching traffic up and down Two Notch is no garden vista, the deck was nice as it got you out of the waiting room and away from the TV.
The siting of this store was interesting as it was directly next to a Precision Tune, just as the Knox Abbott location is almost directly across the street from one.
Update 10 October 2016 -- Now Quackt Glass windshield repair:
Technesis, 536 Meeting Street: November 2014 2 comments
I was unaware of Technesis on Meeting Street, but commenter Frank notes:
Technesis at 536 Meeting St in West Columbia has closed.
This was the followup operation to Microprice around 2010.
The owner sold the customers to another IT company out of Charlotte and closed the doors.
It is nice that the customers were taken care of in the closing.

Wendy's, 10002 Two Notch Road: November 2014 10 comments
One of the very first closings I did was for Wendy's on Two Notch in Dentsville.
Now the other Two Notch Wendy's, out past Spring Valley by the Brickyard Shopping Center site has closed as well.
The place seems reasonably easy to get in and out of, there's even stoplight access, but I note that the adjacent former Quizno's has never been replaced by anything so perhaps I'm missing something about the spot.
I wonder if Nick's needs another location?

UPDATE 17 May 2016 -- As mentioned in the comments, this building is about to open as a Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen:
UPDATE 7 June 2016 -- Popeye's is now open:
Rita's Ice Custard Happiness, 280 Harbison Boulevard Suite M: November 2014 3 comments
I got off kind of on the wrong foot with Rita's as I read their slogan Ice Custard Happiness before walking over from Barnes & Noble and was expecting some rich frozen custard treat. In the event, I ended up with something like an Icee. Looking at their menu, I now see that I should have explicitly mentioned the word "custard" in my order rather than just specifying a flavor. Oh well.
You can see a small portion of the shop in operation in the first picture in the Sesame Inn closing. In the meantime, you can still get your fix across town at the Sandhill location.
