Bi-Lo, 2349 Augusta Road: Early 2021 2 comments
I thought I was done with Bi-Lo closings, but as commenter Andrew reminded me, I had missed this one in West Columbia just East of I-26. I can only recall stopping at this store once when it was Bi-Lo. I was driving through late at night and for some reason got a hankering for cinnamon rolls, the kind that come in the little aluminum trays with the white frosting on top. I don't think I've bought any since then, but they did hit the spot.
I get the impression that KJ's is using the IGA infrastructure to build their own brand. This one, unlike the one near the flea market, doesn't even have the IGA logo on the front, though I did see IGA products on the shelves. I didn't buy anything, but it looked fine inside, probably a notch above Food Lion.
The plaza where this store is located is unusual in that it doesn't seem to have a name.
Teal Service Center, 3819 Augusta Road: 2020 1 comment
I have noticed this place off and on over the years while driving US-1 between I-26 & I-20, because teal is one of the only "non-guy" colors I know, and one that I actually like.
I noticed last weekend that it was closed. The facebook page has nothing since the start of 2020, so I'm just going to use 2020 for the closing date.
PK BBQ, 5423-B Augusta Road: 5 February 2021 (Moved) 4 comments
I noticed this evening that PK BBQ, the follow-on in this convenience store endcap to Kotas was gone.
A little google-work reveals that they have moved to the new Piggly Wiggly complex at 760 Highway 378. I have been meaning to get out there, as I believe that is another former Bi-Lo that I haven't yet done a closing for.
UPDATE 22 February 2021 -- Here is the new location:
Maurice's Piggy Park, 2450 Augusta Road: Summer 2020 16 comments
To the best of my memory, I've only eaten at a Maurice's Piggy Park once, last year at the Charleston Highway location. I thought it was fine, but the chain seems to have hit a rough patch in the last few years with several locations closing. COVID-19 can't have helped, but I don't know if it were the deciding factor here.
This one is on US-1 in West Columbia to the east of the I-26 interchange and across from the Wal-Mart. I see from google maps that it is next to a Ruby Tuesday I had forgotten about, and which I did not check to see if it were open.

Holly's Famous Hot Dogs, 1955 Augusta Rd: Summer 2017 2 comments
Judging from their Facebook page, Holly's Famous Hot Dogs sadly had a death in the family last summer, and have not reopened.

UPDATE 15 February 2022 -- Now (Tameleria) Taqueria La Poblanita:
Reds On Augusta, 4350 Augusta Road: Late 2014 (moved) 4 comments
Noticed this vacant restaurant on Augusta Road next to the former Piggly Wiggly plaza.
A little googling turned up a LoopNet listing and an old FaceBook page that establish that it was a Sports/Biker bar called Reds On Augusta.
Judging from the fact that the last Facebook postings (other than an outlier which I'm guessing is a memory-lane post) are from late 2014, that's when I'm putting the closing.
See the LoopNet link for a picture of the place in operation.
UPDATE 11 August 2017: OK, commenter James R says they have not closed but moved to 3813 Augusta Highway. Well good for them! I'll add "(moved)" to the post title.
Kotas Your Way!, 5423-B Augusta Road (Lexington): Fall 2015 1 comment
This storefront, co-located with a convenience store, was orginally Kotas Sandwiches. After that closed, the place re-opened for a while as Kotas Your Way!.
It appears from the signage, and the food truck parked in the lot that the new owners have closed the storefront and now concentrate on catering chiken & pizza from two food trucks.
UPDATE 11 July 2016 -- Now PK-BBQ:
Marpie's Antiques & Collectibles, 910 Meeting Street / 2040 Augusta Road: May 2014 3 comments
Commenter James reports the closing of Marpie's Antiques & Collectibles on Augusta Road.
This is an interesting location in a building which is shared with Avon and has nice little family plot outside. The peeling marquee sign reveals part of the name of a previous business underneath, but I am unable to make it out. It appears to be

Better Car Wash, 2406 Augusta Road: 2014 no comments
Here's another defunct car wash, this one on US-1 across from the Bi-Lo, and next to Danwood Shopping Center where we have already seen Taqueria Mi Pueblito II.
This one appears a bit smaller than our last car wash.
But not this small.
