Brooks Automotive / The Auto Club, Inc., 3201 Two Notch: 2019 no comments
At one time, in a vanished building, this address hosted Mammy's Shanty restaurant.
The current building has been a number of car related businesses. Brooks Automotive and The Auto Club, Inc. were follow-ons in this spot to Prestige Hitech Autowerks. From this Facebook post, I think I can say that Brooks opened early in 2015. The inflatable Carfox caught my eye in May of 2015, which is when that set of pictures dates from. I assume, since they appear to have been co-located and presumably related, that The Auto Club dates from the same period.
I noticed on 1 March of 2020 (a rather dreary day) that they were gone as well.
I would expect another car operation to move in at some point, but not, I'm sure, until the current mess is sorted out.
UPDATE 10 October 2022 -- I'm not sure what Nutall has to do with this property as they are up the hill a bit, but the door sign suggests maybe they are working on this site. Anyway, I took some more pictures:
Also adding a mpap icon.
Frank's Discount Tire, 1607 Fairlane Drive: 2018 3 comments
I noticed recently that Frank's Discount Tire on Fairlane Drive is now Mavis Discount Tire. I don't have any experience with either business, but I have to say Frank's had the nicer sign. Of course I'm a sucker for neon.
UPDATE 18 March 2021: Edited the tags.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 3014 Two Notch Road: Early 2019 (Moved) 2 comments
I'm not really sure when this Enterprise moved to 2638 Two Notch, but at any rate, I just noticed it, so I'm going to start by tagging it Early 2019. Despite the fact that a cousin briefly worked for the chain, I've never rented from Enterprise, though the car-delivery thing goes sound nice.
The first shots are from May 2015. I mostly took them for the clouds, but figured they might come in handy someday.
Standard Federal Savings & Loan / Interstate All Battery Center, 7347 Garners Ferry Road: February 2020 4 comments
I noticed when I was at Shoney's today, that the adjacent Interstate Battery Center had closed, and was being gutted. The signage is off the building, though for now the road sign remains.
You can't tell it from these shots, but if you look at google maps, you can see from the drive-through on the east side of the building that this was pretty clearly a bank at one time, though I don't know of what stripe.
UPDATE 4 March 2020: Added Standard Federal Savings & Loan to the post title based on the comments.
UPDATE 2 September 2020 -- This place is about to open as a Nick's Gyros & Seafood:
Mickey's Auto Repair, 5531 Bush River Road: Summer 2019 3 comments
Mickey's was on that section of Bush River Road (discontiguous from the main segment, and sometimes called Old Bush River Road) that connects Saint Andrews Road with the Lake Murray Dam in Lexington. I don't know much about the place other than juding by reviews, it closed some time in mid-2019. LoopNet (which has some nice sunny pictures) says the building was put up in 1980 and still has fully functioning lifts. Perhaps that's why the asking price seems rather high.
Abbott's Auto Care Center, 1201 / 1229 Percival Road: 2019 1 comment
I never visited Abbott's, though one shop did suggest once that I take a transmission problem there. Luckily in the event, the problem resolved itself somehow and I didn't have to spend any money on it.
I believe the same family was connected with the Texaco down the road and that, going by their website, they continue to run the self storage units you can see in some of the pictures.
Finish Line Auto Sales, 5505 Two Notch Road: Summer 2019 (moved) no comments
This former Philips 66 has featured here before, when it was Buck Cooper Motors. Since then, Finish Line Auto Sales (at least) has moved in and out. Their sign says they have moved to 10609 Two Notch Road, which is just a bit beyond Pontiac House Of Pizza, though it seems to be officially an Elgin address.
Amoco / Midway Cleaners / Wright Choice Auto Sales / T & T Lock And Key, 1125 Meeting Street: 2017 1 comment
Some time ago commenter April Blake reported that this former drycleaner in West Columbia was setting up to be a King's Pizza location. Like the one slated for the former Chickadee's location, that seems to have fallen through and the place is currently for rent.
What I can find out is pretty scant, but it has been a dry cleaner, a used car dealership (how many cars could they actually fit under that canopy?) and a locksmith. The locksmith does have a (good) review from 2017, so I'm using that as the overall date.
Clicking streetview on the map icon is interesting, as it shows a now demolished glass-box office on the canopy side of the building.
UPDATE 10 AUgust 2019: Adding Amoco to the post title based on the comments.
Spring Green Lawncare / Starter Cars / After School Center(?), 5608 Pinestraw Road: Spring 2019 1 comment
This site is the former Young's Convenience Store.
After that, it was a number of things, never very well signed. I have put some of the google hits in the post title. More recently, I had thought it was some sort of after school center, because I would see it in the afternoons with the doors raised up and kids playing basketball outside, and apparently other games inside, but I never saw a clear sign, and none of the google hits come up with anything like that.
Whatever it last was, it is now on the market.
Jiffy Lube, 2121 Broad River Road: March 2019 no comments
I was going the wrong way to get into the parking lot when I noticed this Broad River Road Jiffy Lube was closed, so these pictures are shot from a distance and against the sun, but the building looks exactly as you would expect.
This location is directly across the Intersection Center entrance from the Church's Chicken which recently closed and re-opened.
I've been to Jiffy Lube (though not this one) a number of times with no problem, but recently I have found I like the faster places like Express for simple oil changes.
