Columbia Closings   What's not in Columbia anymore

Columbia Powersports have closed this location on Two Notch Road, not far from Arcadia Lakes Drive. Commenter Gypsie supplies the information that they had been here since 1976. It appears that they have consolidated operations at the 3750 Fernandina Road location.

In the meantime, this building is to become (or perhaps already is) Precision Pumping Systems.

Well, it's back to Polo Plaza again for this nail spa next to the former Spectrum. It's a bit unusual that they left some of the neon behind, but as nearly as I can tell looking at the two Facebook pages associated with this place, TLC probably moved in 2016, to 9300 Two Notch, which appears to be the strip mall across from the Big Lots shopping center.

The Weekend seems to have been a dinner & dance club in this Spring Valley area strip mall best known for Big Lots. You can see some google photos of it in operation here.

Based on the vague "a year ago" dates on the google reviews, I'll say it closed in early 2021. According to the window signage, the next tenant is to be an even venue probably called Suite Sixty.

UPDATE 22 February 2022 -- The Suite Sixty signage is up:

Apparently First Horizon is merging with Iberiabank, which may have something to do with this location closing. It looks like there are two left in town, on Main Street and in Trenholm Plaza. The Trenholm location is in a building across from Starbucks and is a building that has reflagged several times in recent years.

This location is in the Publix plaza at the corner of Two Notch and Sparkleberry. Commenter Thomas reports that it was previously a Wachovia.

UPDATE 22 May 2023 -- This is refitting to be a Chase branch:

This Waffle House was our go-to for Christmas dinner for a number of years. In the event this year we had to go out to Clemson Road. Google claims this location is "temporarily closed", but I wonder if someone isn't trying to consolidate this lot with the neighboring Circle K to get a space large enough for something to rival the new Quik Trip across the street.

UPDATE 7 June 2022 -- This location is open again. And after all that work, it looks like... A Waffle House:

Well it's back out to Shops At Risdon for this closing. I don't know anything about Andrew's Jewelry, but it looks to be in the final stages of a going-out-of business sale. Actually as these were taken late last month, they be done by now.

I noticed the other day that this cellphone shop on Two Notch up towards Sandhill was vacant, and I don't have a lot more to say about it than that.

This building, at the corner of Two Notch & Beltline, was originally an Eckerd Drugs, and then a Rite Aid. After Rite Aid closed, a pediatric deltal operation called Small Smiles moved in. According to what I can find, this national chain got into trouble and went Chapter 7 in 2015.

At some point after that, Capital City Dentistry set up here, and fairly recently moved up the street into the old Enterprise Rent-A-Car building:

Looking at the outside damage, it looks to me like a good deal of work is needed before anyone else can move into this building, but according to the real estate sign, it *is* leased, so apparently somebody is going to make the effort.

UPDATE 28 January 2022 -- As reported in the comments, this building has now been razed to make way for a Murphy Express:

I'm pretty sure that this former paint store in the Big Lots strip mall on Two Notch near Spring Valley still had a Porter sign (as seen in the first picture) rather than the new PPG Paints name on it, but I can't tell for sure as it has been painted over better than usual (perhaps unsurprisingly) and I can't see any label scar in these photos.

I'm also not sure of the date, but I noticed it in early October, so I'm going with "September 2021".

This shopping center has done better than I would expect lately in making vacancies good, so we'll see if something else moves in soon.

This section of Two Notch is not actually on the main road, but is sandwiched between that and the railroad tracks, and is accessible only at or near the light for Spring Valley. I had done a closing for a bank in the area, but had never driven back towards the east where there is a tailor shop at the end of this spur.

This building is the last one before that shop, and as you can see from the pictures, is built on a bit of an incline, so the parking lot is noticably lower than the street. I like the building and the lot, and the lack of traffic -- it's a good place for a destination business. I'm not sure when the Pitts office moved, but I don't recall seeing the real estate sign before, so I'm going to just call it 2021. According to their door sign, you can now find them at 8313 Two Notch.
