Sub Station II, 736 Saint Andrews Road: December 2019 3 comments
I never ate at this Sub Station II. In fact I've only eaten at the chain twice that I can recall. I find that Jimmy Johns is my go-to sub place these days (unless I'm on the coast when it is Dagwood's). I'm not sure exactly when this place closed. They did post a new picture on their Facebook page on 10 December 2019, and a commenter there notes that as of 9 January 2020 they were closed, so I'm going with "December 2019.
What I find kind of ironic is that I have been notified at least three times that neighboring WG's Chicken Wings is closed, and each time I drive out there, I find it chugging along just fine..

Jimmy John's, 10008 Two Notch Road: December 2019 no comments
I like Jimmy John's, and I go there every now and then for the JJBLT. I do wish they had nicer booths, and let you keep the bread core they trim when hollowing out the rolls, but it's a decent sandwich. I was recently in Pensylvania for work, and ate dinner at an Indian restaurant that was a former Jimmy John's and still had the whimsical (and mildy risque) plaques in the men's room -- wonder what the customers actually from India who might not have recognized the branding made of that..
This location replaced a Quiznos in 2013. I honestly thought it was more recently than that. I'm not sure exactly when it closed, but there are reviews from the last few weeks, so it was either last month or this. The place is currently being gutted, so perhaps something new is already on the way.

Newk's Eatery, 707 Gervais Street Suite A: 11 March 2019 2 comments
Places in the Vista come and go before I even hear about them. All I know about Newk's is what Google has to say
Regional chain offering a menu of salads, pizzas & sandwiches in a casual setting.
It sounds like something I might have liked, but I'm not sure when I last ate lunch in the Vista.
The State has a few more details, and it looks like the only Newk's remaining in South Carolina is in Summerville.

Which Wich?, 1230 Bower Parkway Suite B1: 24 September 2018 2 comments
As I have mentioned before I have a number of problems with Which Wich, the biggest of wich is I can't frequent a place that doesn't have fresh brewed ice tea.
Regardless of my issues, it does seem that this shopping center has problems keeping restaurants.

Larry's Giant Subs, 2001 Augusta Highway: 18 May 2018 2 comments
I've never had a Larry's sub, and now I guess I won't, or at least not in Lexington. According to their Facebook page, their franchaise agreement had run its course and they opted not to renew for a 15 year term.

Jimmy John's, 2015 Devine Street: May 2018 4 comments
Jimmy John's is pretty much my goto sub chain(*). I have walked into Jersey Mike's several times, never seen anything I wanted to eat and walked out, Sub Station II doesn't have unsweet tea, Subway is OK, but the one I had most access to for several years kept the thermostat on sub-zero and I had to stop going. The only issue I have with Jimmy John's is the way they core out the bread for your sandwich. If they are going to do that, you ought to get the bread core too -- you paid for it.
That said, I have never eaten at this one as Forest Drive is closer and has parking. At any rate, as reported by commenter MB, it is now closed. I find it curious how completely it is stripped as they were still doing Facebook postings as late as 19 May.
The only other things I will note about this location is that my cousin worked there at one time, and that it was robbed at gun (or maybe finger) point in 2016.

Palmetto Subs, 5086 Sunset Boulevard: Fall 2017 7 comments
I had held off doing this closing as I never could tell for sure if the place was closed, or just not ever open when I would drive by. I think the real-estate sign in the last shot pretty much settles the question.
This sandwich shop was the follow-on operation to The Lost Cajun. I thought it was a bit unusual that it would reopen as a sandwich shop as the plaza already has a Roly Poly on the other side but I guess that one is more "wrap" oriented. As I intimated above, I never visited Palmetto Subs as it was never open when I was in the area, and I'll admit though I love sandwiches I also like padded booths and a little bit more substantial atmosphere. (As I've said before, I would love if somebody brought the "Dagwood's" concept from Surfside Beach to Columbia..)
Although I did not know it at the time Plametto Subs is a regional chain, and continues to have stores in Florence, Sumter & Darlington.

Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, 494 Town Center Place Suite 1: 8 April 2017 4 comments
Ultimately I can't go regularly to any place that does not have fresh brewed ice tea. Somehow or other I ended up going to this Which Wich twice however. I forget what brought me back the second time -- perhaps I was thinking my subpar first experience was a fluke. In the event, they managed to get my order wrong both times, despite having a system based on minutely specifying orders in writing. That, along with the tea and the odd decor means this chain is just not a concept that's up my alley.

Hot Sub Stop, 10115 Garners Ferry Road: 2015-ish 1 comment
Hot Sub Stop was the follow-on operation to Subway in this Eastover location way out on the Sumter Highway. The first picture above was taken on 15 December 2013, and I know the place was closed when we drove back from cutting a Christmas tree in December 2016, so the closing was in the rather generous range between those dates. I'm just going to say 2015.
Cali's Cafe, 1124 Taylor Street: Early 2016 no comments
This little California themed sandwich shop opened on Taylor street in 2013 following Meatball Express in that storefront. The State did a writeup at the time. You can see their menu with Golden State city inspired items here.
Judging from Yelp, they closed sometime after 20 February 2016.
