New China, 800 Lake Murray Boulevard: December 2013 no comments
Commenter Homer notes that this small Chinese restaurant in High Pointe Centre on Lake Murray Boulevard has closed.
He sends in his pictures here and notes elsewhere that the place was a true family operation with a daughter often taking orders and translating them for mom and pop.
I note that at this juncture, the plaza sign and spelling (note the 'e' on Pointe and the British Centre) seem rather more grandiose than the current tenant list warrants.

Mudbone's Swamp Shack, 7949 Broad River Road: 2013 4 comments
I have some more pictures of this place.. somewhere.
Mudbone's was a cajun restaurant in Friarsgate Plaza on Broad River Road just North of the I-26 interchange.
Reviews were mixed, but everyone seemed to agree they had great hushpuppies.
UPDATE 16 January 2014 -- Commenter badger sends in these scans of the Mudbone's menu:
Blockbuster Video, 7249 Saint Andrews Road: December 2013 18 comments
Well, as we've discussed recently, Blockbuster, at least as a physical store, is on the way out. The parent company, Dish Network is shuttering the chain, basically, due to the rise of Internet video. The last Blockbuster movie rental, 'This Is The End', was on Saturday in Hawaii.
I'm not sure how long the clearance at the remaining stores will go on. It's possible this Irmo store is already closed, as these pictures were taken a week ago now, and I haven't been back by. This location joins a long list of Columbia area Blockbusters which have featured here. And Rosewood will be up as soon as I get the chance to get some pictures there.
UPDATE 26 January 2014 -- Well, that's it, as seen in this pix from 12 Jan:
UPDATE 12 February 2016 - As mentioned in the comments, this whole store has now been subdivided and re-purposed:
UPDATE 5 October 2020: Change name in post title from "Blockbuster" to "Blockbuster Video". Update tags, add map icon. Changing closing date from "Real Soon Now" to December 2013.
Imperial Glass, Inc: 7971 North Woodrow Street Suite 6: 2013 1 comment
Here, I believe, is the last posting from the little strip mall on North Woodrow Street near Broad River Road. This Irmo glass showroom is next to the former China Pearl, and is listed in this year's phonebook (Feb 2013), so apparently closed fairly recently.
UPDATE 6 October 2021: Adding "North" to "Woodrow Street" in the title and tags. Adding map icon.
Curves, 6030 Saint Andrews Road Suite G/H: 2011 (moved) 24 comments
Women's gym Curves moved out of this little strip just past Piney Grove Road sometime in 2011, to set up shop down the street at Seven Oaks Shopping Center (6169 Saint Andrews Road). As of last week, I believe this storefront was still empty.
Update 26 January 2014 -- The new location:
Catch 22, 1085-D Lake Murray Boulevard: September 2013 12 comments
Here's another of the many restaurants I was completely unaware of. This Irmo spot offered more than the seafood the name would have you expect. Of course, some other reviews make it sound as though the literary meaning of the name may have been appropos from time to time as well.
The space is now open again as Bistro On The Boulevard.

Sammi's Deli, 7210 Broad River Road: September 2013 19 comments
This Sammi's location was way out on Broad River Road, just across Lykes Lane from the Publix plaza. I took these pictures when I originally thought it was closed, back in June of 2012.
As it turned out, they weren't closed, but just having some work done. They opened again and carried on (with an 'A') until last month.
Now it's Touchdown's Wings & Things.
Still In Style, 7971 North Woodrow Street Suites 2 & 3: 2000s 1 comment
Here's a two suite consignment shop in the little Irmo strip that has figured so often here over the past week or so. One more, and I think we're done..
UPDATE 6 October 2021: Adding "North" to "Woodrow Street" in the title & tags. Adding map icon.
Grace K. Salon Etc., 10005 Broad River Road: 2000s 2 comments
Here's a former beauty salon in an old ranch-style on Broad River Road in Irmo. The new, unused, phonebooks on the porch are closing signs I've seen time and again, though probably in the next few years that will stop.
