Speedy Pak Delivery Service, 209 Plumbers Road: 2016 (moved) 1 comment
I don't go down Plumbers Road(*) often. I've been to the travel plaza a few times, which is like stepping into the 70s again, and I've done a couple of closings there, but it has a few things you wouldn't expect to find, like a church and hotel along with the industrial building like this.
According to their site Speedy Pak was founded in Myrtle Beach in 1970 and and provides "expedited deliveries", "white glove service", and "in home deliveries". If google can be believed, they have moved from this I-20 frontage north a block to 201 Mcleod Road.
(*) Anyone know why it's called that?
Nutrition Warehouse, 4714 Forest Drive: January 2016 1 comment
Not too long after noting the move of the Boozer location, I had occasion to mail something and dropped by the forest drive location of Nutrition Warehouse. Unfortunately, I found it closed and vacant. This is a shame, since while I never perused the vitamins and supplements the store offered, the contract Post Office was more convenient than the Trenholm Plaza USPS and generally had much faster service.
Nutrition Warehouse, 1621 Broad River Road: Fall 2015 (moved) no comments
Well, I noticed driving down Colonial Life Boulevard the other day that Nutrition Warehouse has moved again.
I had mentioned some time ago that they had moved from one side of Boozer Shopping Center to the other, but now they have moved out of that strip entirely and across Bush River Road to the old Sounds Familiar location at 422 Bush River Road #4 (this lot actually fronts onto Colonial Life Boulevard, but that is not the official address):
I admit I'm not a big supplement customer, but I have shipped a number of items at the Forest Drive location, and their contract Post Office is quite efficient.
Contract Post Office, 6000 Garners Ferry Road: April 2013 11 comments
After the Woodhill Automated Post Office closed in January 2010:
Woodhill Storage & Office Centre on the other side of the plaza took up the slack by opening a contract post office.
I noticed while eating lunch at Jimmy John's the other day that several people were getting out of their cars with packages and then getting back in their cars *still* with packages. Checking it out, I found that the USPS marquees have been covered over, and that there are door signs posted to the effect that the contract post office is gone, although the business remains otherwise in full operation.
I would have to google it to be sure, but I think the next closest post office is at Garners Ferry Plaza at the corner of Garners Ferry and Greenlawn.
The UPS Store, 1013-F Broad River Road: July 2011 4 comments
This little storefront in the Food Lion plaza between Greystone and Brevard, was a UPS Store. This review says that they were having problems for a while, and I wonder if that suggests that the copier which appears to still be in there was unfixable.
I believe that a contract Post Office opened fairly recently at Boozer Shopping Center, so there are still shipping resources in the general area.
