I have been in this store a number of times over the years, but what I recall most about is is that on the South side of the lot, there is a very vibrant stand of Wisteria which I took pictures of one year, and which, should I ever find them again, I will post here.

I am generally more of a Walgreens customer, and there is one across the street, which may have played into this closing (the Google reviews suggest other possibilities), but for whatever reason, I always found this store to easier to get into than that one so if I were coming up Saint Andrews Road I might stop in to get toothpaste, or batteries or whatever. The entrance was one of those automatically folding (rather than sliding) doors that I always found a little off-putting, but I suppose it got the job done.

  1. CVS usually feels cramped and stuffy to me.

Twice in the past, I was supposed to interview for part-time positions. Both times, the current employees were surprised and had never heard of the managers who arranged the interview with me. This happened twice, involving two different locations in two cities.

  2. I got a kick out of the fact that they posted the closing announcement on a sign with 'Hooray' on the top...

  3. Someone who worked there told me that this store's sales were so low that they had a major delivery only once every two weeks, while most other CVS' get them once a week. I was also told they had a very high shrink problem and money orders and Moneygram was two of their biggest selling items. Given everything I heard, I am surprised it took them this long to close.

  4. Sorry to go off-topic but I always like to post this about MoneyGram, Western Union. I worked at two stores that had Western Union. I saw a lot of people falling for obvious scams.

    - Men were often dating/engaged to a woman in another country. A typical red flag is when she needs money but can't pick it up herself - no car right now, etc. He is sending the money to her brother, aunt, etc. who will take it to her. A person needs to show ID when they pick up the money, so the scammer makes an excuse for why someone else is going.

    - Women had Internet military boyfriends who were currently out of the country; she had not met him in person yet. He asked her to send his mother (or someone else) a little money to help with a bill or something. Again, this other person is probably the scammer.

Oh, they sent you a photo and it looks real? People can steal photos from social media profiles and Internet searches.

    - Not quite as common, but some middle-aged and senior couples, or middle-aged women, meet a younger adult online and form a parent-child bond with them.

    - This only happened once, but I think it's strange that a successful interior designer would instruct you to send another person $800 as payment for a chair. The woman who wanted to do this, looked at me like I was ignorant for not knowing who he was. Granted, I am a woman who doesn't pay much attention to designer names and such. But wouldn't a popular designer have a typical website that you shop on, or sell his items through stores? Why send money to his associate through Western Union?

Employees are supposed to warn customers, but the customer almost always refuses to believe it and starts getting angry. My supervisor told me to stop trying to warn people and just do the transactions.

  5. Drove by it today. There was a mattress and two sofas in front of the store near the front entrance.
