I noticed the other week that this almost-outparcel by Columbia Mall (and almost across from Best Buy) was vacant again. Verizon was a follow-on in this building to Coconuts Music, though I think it may have had several other businesses in between those two. Apparently this store has moved to Woodhill at 6118 Garners Ferry.

You can see the store with the Verizon signage still up . There is a dumptster outside now, so perhaps something else will be moving in soon.

  1. I believe there is one opening up across from Firestone on Killian Rd. The building is there but not signage. But it looks like the one on Garners Ferry and the new on they built on Two Notch.

  2. I bought a Qualcomm mobile phone from this location back in 1997 that I could actually put in my pocket. It was so sleek compared to the block sized phone I had before. It was another cell carrier brand before Verizon bought them out. Can't remember the name, but I believe they were based out of Birmingham, AL.

  3. I remember thinking how cool the flip phone I got from them was because it looked like a Star Trek communicator. That must have been around the turn of the century. Channel open.

  4. I think Gene Roddenberry's son tried to market a flip-phone with a Star Trek Communicator sound effect when you opened it. Seems like a natural and I don't know why it wasn't big, other than the whole flip-phone thing going away.

  5. I was absolutely WRONG about a Verizon store going in on Killian across from Murphy's Gas. It is a buffet. But it looks just like the new Verizon stores.

  6. The Woodhill location mentioned in the main post is what is now open on the site that was the former Eric's San Jose.

  7. @Sidney - Same owners as Jasmine Buffet on Two Notch, if memory serves.

Everything about a buffet-style restaurant is disgusting to me, but I must be in the minority with as many of them as there are around here.

  8. @Jason, I don't like buffets for 2 reasons. 1, I don't eat enough to justify the price. 2, I just don't like eating food that is out in public like that. You got some nasty people going through that food. I know for a fact this homeless guy and probably many of them go to the Golden Corral on Forest Dr. No way I am eating any of that food after they have been near it.

  9. I know a lady that hates buffets becuase she feels like you have to fight for your food. I'm not a big of them but do go occasionally...

I think the Jasmine ownership is working to open something similar in the Ryan's at Two Notch and Rivkin Blvd. but the process is seems like it's moving a little on the slow side. I am not the biggest fan of Jasmine Buffet but the rest of my family likes it.
