Dollar Tree moved in here sometime in 2011, a year or two after Eckerd's closed shop.

It's a decent enough location, with stop-light access to Saint Andrews Road & Broad River Road, but the area has struggled in recent years, and the catty-cornered CVS closed last year.

It's a good sized building and still looks to be in reasonable shape, but I don't have high hopes for a new tenant. Perhaps a gym?

  1. I'm genuinely surprised it took so long for this location to close. It was constantly junky inside with inventory scattered all over the place and not properly sorted by section, there were always people panhandling (often aggressively so) at the doors or even inside the store, the asphalt in the parking lot was in really bad shape with HUGE holes in multiple spots and the lights didn't work which made shopping there after dark flat out dangerous.

When the DT opened on St. Andrews beside KJ's I thought this location would close, but it didn't. Then when the DT opened near Publix on Broad River, I thought this location would close, but again, it didn't.

This closing is far past due.

  2. Someone who worked there when it was an Eckerd said that the rent they paid was so high, the store could not make a profit. I can't help but to wonder if this happened to DT too, but I think the big reason is that this area has simply gone downhill.
