Griffin Chophouse replaced Kingsman Restaurant in this spot in 2020 (the Parkland Plaza location of Kingsman remaining open) and closed in mid-March of this year. There was also another location of Griffin Chophouse in Chapin which closed as well. Royal Butcher, also in this building, was apparently under the same ownership as the Chophouse and closed at the same time.

The current plan is that the space will re-open soon as a new restaurant, Bone-Appetite, although the site given for that operation does not seem to exist yet. The Lexington Chronicle has a good article explaining the ins-and-outs of the situation.

  1. Griffin Chophouse was also planning to open a location at the location near Devine St & Beltline that is under construction and this site is now on the market as construction was about 90% complete when the business folded. I saw an article about this but don't remember where it was.

  2. Oh yeah, I had completely forgotten about that, but I actually did a closing for the businesses that were at that planned additional location

  3. The newly renovated Paws and Claws animal clinic on North Lake Drive in Lexington has a for sale sign on it. The vet appears to have gotten himself in some legal woes.

  4. This location of the Kingsman was awesome. Best smoked wings in town and everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Waitstaff knew the menu, and kept things moving as the place frequently served large parties but we never felt neglected. Then covid hit and we got a lot of takeout, but it was apparent they weren't going to make it. Griffin's was Ok and I give them credit for trying some new things. But it was pricey, and service was a little too slow.
