This store closed as a Bi-Lo in January of 2020, and opened as a Pig not too long thereafter. Now that run, too, has come to an end. (You can actually see more pictures of it as a Pig in the linked post, as I did not get over there while the Bi-Lo was still open).

Given there are multiple groceries in the area (probably a big factor here), I doubt the next tenant will be one, but we'll have to see.

  1. Not sure how updated you are, but this location became a Roses Express at least a year ago.

  3. This is near my house. When we first moved out here in 2006, it was a Piggly Wiggly and the only grocery store out this way, so they could pretty much charge what they wanted. Then Publix and Lowe's Foods opened close by, and this Piggly Wiggly was never competitive in their pricing. It changed to a Bilo, but the prices never changed then either, and the went back to The Pig, but again the prices never changed. With it being an older, smaller store and more expensive than Publix, unfortunately it wasn't going to last.

  4. The Post & Courier article I read on it cited issues with the supply chain, inventory issues and a decline in the average transaction as reasons for this closing.

I for one hated to see it go as I would often pass by the Publix & Lowe's TahoeChic referenced to go to this store (and it was the least crowded of the 3 and that is what I enjoyed about it)...plus after many other Piggly Wigglies had closed (and featured here) it was kinda nice for me to have that option once again.

Despite the wording in the main post, the transition back to Piggly Wiggly #312 was in early 2021 as Southeastern Grocers phased out the Bi-Lo brand. For me it was the biggest silver lining in seeing Bi-Lo exit the scene...now I wait to see what comes next for this spot.
