Hardee's, 7019 Parklane Road: January 2020 7 comments
It seems to me I have blogged an unusual number of Hardee's closings recently. I'm not sure if that says anything or if it's just coincidence or local conditions, but here's another.
This store is on Parklane, basically in a Columbia Mall outparcel, and not too far down from the local McDonald's. I'm not sure how long it was in this location, but it's been at least since the mid-90s. I do like this google review for the place:
Once got a burger that looked just as good in the ads.
That *shouldn't* be high praise, and yet..
Are there any Red Burrito locations of Hardee's left in Columbia?

I believe that the Hardees at Garner's Ferry & Universal is a Red Burrito and still open.

Likely the spate of closings is related to both the changing trends away from traditional fast food chains to other quick service options as well as addressing population shifts. The Columbia Mall area is pretty much just someplace you drive past to get downtown or to the northeast. This means lower and lower sales volumes. Rush's has a real challenge in that they didn't quickly close old stores and open new ones in booming areas.

I visited this location a few times since I work nearby and always found it to be pretty decent. The Hardees on Augusta Hwy near Walmart in West Columbia is a Red Burrito.

I think the Hardee's in Ballentine used to have a Red Burrito

Drove by the Ballentine Hardee's yesterday - the sign still says Red Burrito. No idea if they still HAVE burritos - I only ever get biscuits there.

Is there a chance this can be changed into a Jack in the box?People coming to this location instead of about 70 miles away for Jack in the Box might be a good idea.

There has been a Hardee's on this site since the 1970s. The original building, which had the old orange roof and was one of the oldest in town, was torn down years ago and rebuilt.
