We talked about the GameStop on Broad River Road last month. I suspect this one in Garners Ferry Crossing probably closed about the same time. You can see that it was still there when Great Clips posted their 31 December 2024 closing sign, but it is definitely gone (and all the signage stripped) now.

As far as I can tell, the one at Woodhill is still open though.

GameStop has been up and down over the last few years. I think people are playing fewer games sold on media vs downloading, but in the other direction, there was a really crazy run up on the stock price a few years ago as well.

A YouTube Short claims this one closed on 14 January 2025, which I can't verify in any other media, but it is definitely closed now.

I'm guessing this might have been the new location for the Dutch Square GameStop which closed in 2010, but I don't really know.

Well, back to Dutch Square for another closing...

Gamestop was in Dutch Square on the south side of the main corridor just down the hill from customer service, and the Eckerd's/Piccadilly side corridor.

I don't know a lot about modern video gaming (give me Galaga, Gorf, Joust,Pengo any day..), but this is the third such store that I am aware of closing in the past year (after Game Crazy on Garners Ferry, and Play N Trade on Forest Drive). On the other hand, the Gamestop on Harbison is still going, so it's more likely an artifact of the continuing downward spiral of Dutch Square than anything else.
