Here's an older house set up as a restaurant on Lexington's South Lake Drive. I try to keep tabs on local pizza, but this one is not really local to me, and I'm afraid I had never heard of it before they closed up shop. The place kind of sits on a little hill, and I think it would have been nice to eat on the deck and look over the comings and goings on the road.

According to their sign, they are moving, but to where is not clear. Commenter Brian notes that the main chef has moved to All Star Pizza Company at 2001 Augusta Road.

UPDATE 20 May 2018: The State says this will open as the second location of Cafe Strudel on 21 May 2018.

  1. I had considered trying this place several times, but 1- I knew someone who worked here that was kind of a moron, and 2- they got a few unfavorable DHEC ratings. Both of those things put me off very quickly. LOL

  2. @TahoeChic - Looking at the pictures, I can relate to what you are saying. It appears someone with good intensions tried to make a "Go of it" however it seems as though they may have had a limited budget.
The counter where one would pay their bill and the bar are dead give-a-ways.
But, the only reason I say it is a dead give-a-way is because I was in the same predicament when I opened my first business.
Money was tight, and most of the work on my first store I did my self.
So with that said, I give who ever, credit for a nice try.

  3. @Rick - I agree and I like to support the local mom and pop type places, and would've gone despite the person I knew that worked there. But, once I saw the low rating on WLTX restaurant report that did it for me. It's worth noting that I'm a Germaphobe anyway so that doesn't help. LOL

  4. @TahoeChic - Even though my last comment appeared to take up for the little guy, I would not have gone there to eat.

I, like you, am very concerned about germs and bacteria, It only takes getting food poisoning one time to make a person think twice about eating somewhere that has a less than stellar rating.

  5. I went back and looked it up on WLTX and one of the low ratings was for "employees with cuts on hands not wearing gloves". All together now "ewwwwwwwww!" LOL

  6. I know. I always worry about the kitchen help. No fault of their own but in most cases anyone working in a kitchen or restaurant is making minimum wage, and it is a known fact they have not been trained correctly on how to handle food. In most cases they are young, and are not even able to wipe their own ass correctly yet. But we still allow them to handle our food.

  7. Sorry, I know I can get nasty some times.
    I'm working on it.

  8. I just say or type what's on my mind.
Not one of my better qualities but, at least all knows where I'm coming from. (What I'm thinking).

  9. @Rick - LOL I tend to have the same problem. Usually what I'm thinking comes straight out of my mouth. I've gotten a little better about that with age, but not much. I also have a habit of giving my completely uncensored opinion when someone asks what I think...that doesn't always go over so well. LOL

  10. I agree with you all as well on the germophobe thing. We used to eat at Libby's in Lexington, just down from the courthouse.. before it was Libby's it was a pizza place called Cardoni's.
Anyway, the food is good, they're always packed.

Went in there with the wife and kids one day for lunch before the crowd came in. We sat at a table, and one of the rolled napkin place settings had red spots on it. On closer inspection, unless someone was staining a deck, it was certainly dried blood. We left even though we had ordered drinks, before the waitress came back, and we haven't been back since.
I should have told the owners but we were so grossed out we just left.

  11. Ate there, once, 6 years ago and never went back.

Owner seemed nice, family-run joint and they were from Chicago. It was no secret they were in trouble, then.

  12. This is now at 905 N. Lake Dr. next to TitleMax and is just a pizza delivery/take-out operation now.
