Fontenay Fine Rugs & Antiques, 2716 Devine Street: Fall 2009   3 comments

As I was driving back from Hiller the other day, I noticed this rug store on Devine Street with the going-out-of-business signs up. I had never noticed it before, but I do have to say those are some nice looking rugs. Unfortunately right now, I suppose people are deciding that the threadbare ones at home can take another year or two of traffic.

  1. I don't get over that way much. I guess that would be as good of a location as any w/ Shandon around the corner. I know there are some rug stores on Gervais. I remember being in Atlanta about 10 years ago and wandered into a rug store. They had some for 25K. That just amazed me. Anyway, I've always looked at "BIG SALES" as sorta a reverse demand curve. I mean even w/ the above sign. 90% off? I know that is MSRP, but if you could sell something even close to 90% off and make any profit, your prices are too high to start with. The irony is, these multi thousand dollar rugs are probably covering up the beautiful hardwood floors that homeowners spent thousands of dollars to refinish. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what my comment has added to the site.
