Null's Exxon, 5200 Two Notch Road: 9 December 2016 12 comments
Well, this is one of the last old-time "service stations" around town. Looking inside is like visiting another age. The "Maps Here" sign is particularly evocative -- there was a time you got your branded highway maps at a service station. I still have a cubby full of old "Gulf" maps, some predating the completion of the 'I' system. That was also a time when we were convinced that gas was *not* a commodity product, and that "Good Gulf" was better than "putting a tiger in your tank" or vice versa.
And a man would actually come out to your car, pump the gas, check your oil, check your tires, check your battery and radiator and wash your windows.
Their sign says they were here for 33 years, which is a good run.

Dang - @Ted - That post really brings back the memories for me. I could go on and on about my experiences with what I call gas stations similar to this one, but I will not at this time, I'm reminiscing at the moment and will share my memories shortly.

@Homer - Something is wrong. I can't seem to get my MoJo going to make a comment. I have a pinched nerve in my back and it is killing me with pain. Yes, the three bathroom gas station I leased in 1983 did have three bathrooms. One for women, one for men and a third I kept locked and only I used it, just for me.
I had a 65" flat screen TV in there, a refrigerator, a gas grill, a pool table, along with a 48 pack of toilet paper. It is where I went when I wanted to get away from time to time. Back then we didn't have cell phones so I had a C.B. Radio and a RED Phone that I used to call my groupies. I had a couch that was made of leather and when I got tired I'd take a nap on it. I put in a Lay-Z-Boy and squeezed it into the corner by the foosball table. It was bit tight but I was not as big as I am now so it worked out well. I connected the door knob to 480 volts with a finger print I.D. so if anyone tried to get in besides me... well you get the idea. The Guinness Book of World Records wanted to list my bathroom as the best in the world. I did not want anyone to know where it was, so I declined. Any way when I feel better, I'll add a good comment.

Judging from the architecture, I would say this station was built in the 1960s.

Judging from the pumps, it looks like the Nulls stopped investing the business several decades ago, other than the brand-required update of the canopy and signage.
Not untypical of old-line family businesses where the kids have no interest in the parents enterprise.
Sure would love to be able to work on my car in that garage space - even lots of sunlight from those side windows!

A different pump for each grade of gas. Don't see that much anymore.
