Ole Timey Meat Market, 3008 Rosewood Drive: Early October 2013 (moved) 14 comments
Local butcher shop Ole Timey Meat Market has moved their Rosewood Drive location from the former Keg O' Nails building to the former Edens Food Stores / bodyFit / Jaime Scott Fitness building a number of blocks east.
As you can see, there is already ongoing work on the 3008 building, so apparently it will not be vacant long.

Homer, Good question. I have never been to an "Old Timey" meat market but over the years it seems like I hear about one here or there. After thinking about it I believe I thought there was only one. Now I'm not sure. How many have there been?

There was one on Garners Ferry just past Hazelwood. I think that one moved to Rosewood.

@rick - there are only the four I listed that I know of. The one in Irmo has some killer breakfast sausage, awesome pimento cheese and, at times, some big ole honkin' lobster tails. Not to mention some damn fine steaks!!

@Homer - Mmmmm thats making me hungry. I make some killer home made pimento cheese myself. If one has never had home made pimento cheese and only eaten the store bought stuff, you are missing out. Even if you think "Ruths" pimento cheese is good, the most popular at your local grocery, it is not real. Notice how it says "pimento spread" NOT "pimento cheese" that is because they can not call it "cheese" unless it has real cheese in it. The same thing if you buy hot dog chili. If you notice some cans say hot dog chili SAUCE, NOT hot dog chili. Thats because it does not have hamburger in it. Next time you are able read the ingredients of both, compare the difference. Not you Homer, I'm just saying all should. Oh yea, @badger - The market you mention was Boyers Meat Market. And if anyone want my P-Cheese recipe let me know, it only has 4 ingredients and is easy to make.

I know, I see it now, I left an "s" off of "want" in my "want my p-cheese" recipe sentence.. I do not try hard sometimes to have perfect grammer, or even check my spelling, unless I'm at work, but I do understand present and past tense. Ever notice how many do not? Also I do not expect all to be perfect here, that way I won't have to try to hard either.

@rick - send the recipe. Mine has only four ingredients as well, but I don't measure anything. Sharp Cheddar cheese, mayo, pimentos and sugar. If I'm in the mood I may also add a little sweet pickle relish or some minced jalapeno peppers.
Once in a while I will pick up a can of the hot dog chili sauce. It reminds me of the the stuff they used to put on hot dogs in fast food joints or at school. I think the hot dog chili sauce is bean based.

@Homer - I do not measure either. My ingredients are the same as yours except for the sugar, I use a little cayenne pepper, careful though, it can get spicy quick. Also, pimentos that come in a jar are so much better than pimentos in most ready made pimento cheese. Plump and juicy opposed to the flat, skin off of a bell pepper. This makes a great Pimento Cheese Burger hot off the grill. I also keep a few cans of the chili sauce on hand sometimes mixing the two.

I drove by this location today, and there is a covering over what looks to be the new sign. If I read it correctly, it looks like Dano's Pizza might be moving to this area, and presumably closing in the Publix Shopping center up the road? That was a hard-to-access location, so this might be a good move.

I saw the signage today indicating that Dano's Pizza plans to move from Rosewood Center into this building...they started out in a small spot in Rosewood Center shortly after the overhaul for Publix was completed in 2002 (opened sometime in 2003 if memory serves me correctly). They found themselves doubling and now they are moving out into this larger building...I've been several times (they have a lunch special I like) and I just hope they can manage the larger space.

Question - Are the Ole Timey's in Dentsville and on Rosewood affiliated with the ones in Irmo and Lexington? You only see or hear advertisements for one pair or the other.
