Waffle House, 2345 Broad River Road: Late 2025 (Delivery Only) 3 comments
I had never heard of such a thing, but the Waffle House near the I-20 interchange on Broad River Road has gone delivery only. I enjoy eating at the House every now and then, but I can't even imagine having waffles or hash browns delivered. Given that it's certainly not the standard business model, I wonder how many people it will even occcur to...

WH delivery is for when you're too messed up to drive but really NEED it.

I have not had WF from this location delivered yet, but in the past we've had it from a couple of the closer ones and found the food to be just as good as if we were dining in. We like WF though - even when we're sober. Ha ha.
So what has happened though is that the other locations in this area no longer offer delivery. All deliveries originate from this Broad River Rd location now. Apparently this was done because the deliveries on top of walk-in takeout orders and those dining inside was too much for the cooks and servers to handle.
From a business standpoint I think this makes good sense, but as a consumer I'm not thrilled. There are two locations within five minutes of my house. In the past delivery from either of them meant my food was still hot when I got it. The delivery-only WF is a good 15 minutes from me though so my food would not likely still be warm by the time I got it.

Certain types of food are not meant to be delivered most of the time, in my opinion. Waffle House is one of them. They already have many locations and were supposed to never close unless absolutely necessary. The convenience was a major part of their appeal.
The same goes for McDonald's, Taco Bell, etc. These places are designed to be convenient already. Why pay more money to have a Big Mac and fries delivered?
