Marino's Bistro, 3313 Platt Springs Road: February 2013 5 comments
I was unaware of Marino's Bistro, or indeed of this whole little strip mall near the Airport on Platt Springs Road, until recently.
I like the sign for the plaza, which has a sort of retro look without trying too hard. I don't know anything about Marino's itself, other than that it sounds Italian, which is always an indicator that I will have a better than average chance of liking a place. I'm putting the closing date as February, as the new phone books (which you can see outside the door -- one of the common sights of a closing) came out then.

My cousin owned the place. They used to be over in Pineridge. The lady who originally founded it died in 2011 of a brain tumor. My cousin was the remaining partner and she closed it to take a break and focus on her real estate business.

Taco Cid has moved here..The problem is that the Marino's Bistro signage hasn't been replaced yet...which means people won't know it's there...the only way to know is if you drive up to the window and see the Taco Cid signage in the window.
A previous comment mentioned a Chinese restaurant that used to be here...I can attest as one used to have a buffet that a lady I knew used to take advantage of when I went to Midlands Tech...they used to know her as a frequent customer that went there and that'd be the basis of their interaction with her. I'm unable to remember the name as I don't keep up with many Chinese places as they tend to smell unappetizing to me...

Hmmm... I agree. I do not like the way some Chinese places smell either.

I discovered last Friday that the Marino's signage that was still there when Taco Cid first opened has now been replaced with Taco Cid signage...

I could walk there from work. I got lunch from them every now and then. Yes, it was Italian. Within four years, there were two Chinese restaurants at this location and Marino's.
