Little Folks Place, Inc. / Kiddie Kollege Pre-School, 1540 Bush River Road: 2000s 8 comments
This house at the corner of Bush River Road and Jessie Lee Lane (in between the old Bush River Mall site and El Chico) has certainly seen better days.
While it still seems to be basically structuraly sound (no visible leaks), the overall appearance of the property (tagging and no maintenance) leads me to conclude the owner and realtor have given up on the building and now want to sell for the land only.
I'm not sure when this daycare closed. It's not in the February 1997 phonebook, and I hesitate to place it before that, so I'm guessing in the early 2000s. A search on the address turns up a Secretary Of State's office link for a previous daycare, Little Folks, Inc. which went into forfeiture in 1991.

UPDATE 11 April 2012 -- Here's a closer picture of the carport/shed:

It is a real shame what people do to perfectly good homes when they chop them up to make day cares out of them.
From the style of the windows, I'd say that house was built about 1955.

Ted, what is behind it at to the right as you face the house from the road? From Bing maps, it looks like a small concrete track with a small roofed stand in the middle.

@tt -- It's some sort of carport or shed. I've added a better picture of it above.

tonkatoy, I am not sure what role Bush River Auto Mall plays in that shed, but I know they operate on the land between this and Friendship AME church

Ted, it is between the shed and the road. Check Bing maps for the adress, go to bird's eye view, and you'll see the 'track.'
Could be an optical illusion like the face on Mars.

Didn't it used to have a swimming pool too?
I'm pretty sure it closed in the 90's.

It appears to me as if this property has sold...(the building has torn down)

frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see this building get torn down one day...the fact that it has remained vacant as long as it has is one of several reasons I referenced last November as to Bush River not getting the revitalization as far reaching as people had hoped when Walmart #4379 was announced.
