Lizard's Thicket, 2240 Airport Boulevard: 14 June 2020 5 comments
ColaDaily reports that this and the Beltline Lizard's Thicket will be closed temporarily due to staffing issues during the COVID-19 crisis. (Old Chicago in the Vista had signage indicating the same issue). They do plan to re-open both stores at some point.
I can only recall eating at this store twice though I have probably been there more. The most memorable experience was when I had been working across the country for a month, and *really* wanted some comfort food, so as soon as I touched down at the airport, I was already planning what vegetables to pick!

UPDATE 5 January 2022: As mentioned in the comments, this closure is now permanent, so adding pictures and updating the post title to remove "(Temporary)":

I miss the glory days of GOOD comfort food at the lizard. Now it is just straight out of the can, unseasoned, overpriced garbage that you could get at any Shoneys. Even the catfish filet is now just scrap nuggets. Where have all the good veggies gone? And speaking of that when did mac n chesse become a veggie?

I noticed that with the creamed corn the other evening.

I drove by this location, and I don't think the sign says 'temporarily' anymore.

Badger already posted this but I noticed yesterday that this does indeed say "Closed" now. I looked at the Lizard's Thicket website and this location isn't on their map anymore.

Fun fact, Lizards Thicket received some of the PPP money. WHen I want inconsistent comfort food, the Thicket never fails to deliver.
