Kwik Kopy Business Center, 7320 Broad River Road: 2009   8 comments

Posted at 1:06 am in closing

I wish Zorba's Express in Irmo were closer to home so I could get out there for pizza more often, but last time I did, I noticed that this nearby storefront in the same Publix plaza was now vacant.

Judging from the google hits, Kwik Kopy seemed to offer the same range of services as The UPS Store or FedEx Office. I wonder if the copying business is taking hits from home printers and electronic documents. I vividly remember the first time I used a copy center (it was kind of a new concept then) to make a copy of The Lions' Book. It took hours and cost me a considerable chunk of my nearly non-existent college-student cash. Today, someone would just download the PDF..

UPDATE 7 June 2010: Changed post closing date from 2010 to 2009 based on comments.

UPDATE 15 March 2022: Updating tags and adding map icon.

  1. This closed some time in early 2009 if I recall correctly.

There used to be a Sprint store next to it, it closed back in 2008 I think.

In the same shopping center, on the other side, there used to be a business called NetComm or something like that, where they sold computer supplies. It closed in late 2008 I think.

The Fuji Cafe is new in that shopping center. It took over where the sushi place used to be.

  2. I shop at that Publix all the time and i dont think that Kwik Copy was open long at all, maybe just a few months.

Im pretty sure there was also a gift shop in one of these storefronts for a while also, maybe something similar to SC Place at Columbiana Mall.

  3. IrmoJeff, I think the store you are referring to actually closed and became the Kwik Copy. Do you remember the Dollar Store that was located at the other end? It made the "Dollar Tree" chain look like Saks Fifth Avenue. I have never in my life seen such junk. I also remember the Publix did not carry sushi per their agreement with that sushi place in the strip mall. I think they do now. That seemed very crazy to me.

  4. That Kwik Kopy moved somewhere on main street.
The sprint closed and opened where the Golds Gym is. (But I think it closed there as well).
The other place was a SC Place, but they still have there stores in Columbiana and Columbia Mall.

  5. Jonathan...its funny you mention the sushi....i had become addicted to the sushi rolls from the Publix on Harbison, and when the announcement came that they were building a Publix so close to my house i was so psyched, only to find out they wouldnt be carrying it. I didnt realize the Sushi House had closed. It was always someplace i meant to go, but never got around to. It was owned by the same people who own the China House (great take out Chinese BTW) across the street in the Food Lion strip.

Anyway, i never went to the Dollar Store in that strip. I try to avoid stores whose business models is "everything is one price". Probably just a short coming of mine :) Its funny, other than getting my hair cut at that Cost Cutters (that Mrs IrmoJeff is telling me now is closed also) ive never been in any of the stores on the "other" side of Publix. Weird.

  8. The Kwik Kopy place is now a Tiger Rock TaeKwanDo place. The spot next to it (empty spot in picture) that used to be a SC Place or one of those stores will soon be UPS Store.
The TD Bank that used to be in that shopping center is no more. They apparently combined with the TD Band at the corner of Lake Murray Blvd and St Andrews Rd
