Laguna Sports Bar, 6212 Two Notch Road / 1486 Bella Vista Drive : 2011 no comments
I can't really find out anything about Laguna Sports Bar other than I saw it open as the follow-up to Club Colorz. Judging by that picture, and a Google Streetview from the following year, it did not last long at all.
However, the main reason I was looking at closings for this address again is that the right wing of this twin building pretty much burned down, and the left side took a good bit of damage in the rear as well. I don't believe there will be anything new in this spot until the whole thing is razed and rebuilt.
Also, while I have usually seen this listed with 6212 Two Notch as the address, apparently it is also, or perhaps is now 1486 Bella Vista Drive.
Club Ego / Club Colorz, 6212 Two Notch Road / 1486 Bella Vista Drive: December 2010 8 comments
I did a closing for this building a while back starting as Antonio's Restaurant and going through a number of different nightclubs and strip clubs.
At the time I made that post, the building seemed to be operating as Club Ego (despite the Studio 54 sign still being up). Since that time, Club Ego apparently shut down, and Club Colorz opened and shut.
I'm putting the closing date for Club Colorz as December 2010 because the flyers posted by the door talk about Christmas events (though I am not nearly hip enough to understand the contests being described), but not New Years events.
The building still has power, and is lighted nightly, so I presume there will be a new club by and by.
UPDATE 4 September 2011 -- It's now Laguna Sports Bar:
UPDATE 17 June 2026: Update the post title and tags to note that the place now seems to be listed on Bella Vista Drive and add a map icon.
Antonio's Restaurant / LB Dynasty / Studio 54 / Club Gemeni, 6212 Two Notch Road / 1486 Bella Vista Drive: 1970s, late 2000s 11 comments
I don't actually remember this place as an Italian restaurant, but apparently in 1974 it was one. Pizza was still a pretty exotic food to me then, but was one I liked, and I would have expected to remember a pizza restaurant in the Dentsville area. I certainly knew about the Pizza Hut on Two Notch more or less where the O'Reily's Auto Parts near Best Buy now is, and about Shakey's on Parklane Road. A 32-inch pizza sounds rather overwhelming, but the sandwiches sound quite good.
After Antonio's, it was a number of night-clubs and strip-clubs. By 1997, it was operating as L B Dynasty and got in trouble with the Department of Revenue leading to a 45 day suspension of the club mini-bottle license. Whether because of that, or for some other reason, it later became Studio 54, and was that until quite recently, I think (at any rate, the sign is still there). Despite that, it has been at least one other club, Club Gemeni before it's current incarnation as Club Ego
UPDATE 4 September 2011: After being several other things, it's now Laguna Sports Bar
UPDATE 17 June 2026 -- Adding a map icon, updating the tags, and noting in the post title that this building now seems to be listed on Bella Vista Drive.
