Logan Raye, 801 Gervais Street: 27 August 2011 34 comments
I held off doing this closing for a bit, as I wasn't absolutely certain Logan Raye at the corner of Gervais & Gadsden was actually closed. The phone is still connected, there's no sign on the door, and all the products still seem to be shelved. However, the web site does hint strongly, and the door was locked during normal hours, so I'm afraid it's so.
I'm not that familiar with hair salons, or how long one stays inside, but it does strike me there is very little parking here. When I stopped to take these pictures, I had to feed a meter. I wonder if that may have had an impact..

Well, yes, I did say it hinted strongly, but technically you can say that whether there is going to be another 10 years or not..

I bet the meters did have an impact. I refuse to pay to park. There are so many places to park for free and shop, so why pay?

Where can I park?
You may park directly on Gervais Street, at the side of the building on Gadsden Street or there is free parking in the parking lot behind the building IN SPACES 1 - 5 ONLY! (The other spaces belong to other Tenants in our building.) When you park in spaces 1-5, please ask front desk for a parking permit before you join your service provider.Beth

Considering they were in business for 10 years, I doubt the presence of parking meters did them in.

Good point!

[...] Logan Raye, 801 Gervais Street: 27 August 2011 at Columbia Closings Logan Raye (Corner of Gervais & Gadsden) closed after 10 years in biz. Flo opening next to Miyos probably did them in but in any event, this is mega prime real estate avail, I'm guessing a savvy restauranteur will snap it up the space in next couple months. [...]

People will tolerate parking meters for 10 years, but not one month longer.

Do you know if there is anything I can do about the 75 dollar gift certificate I have for Logan Raye? Is there anything I can do? If I would have known that they were closing I would have planned to used it right when I received it.
ThanksAmy

try as I might, I went searching for the location Jimmy mentioned in Lake Carolina yesterday, driving through the area that I think it would be located twice, but couldn't find it either time. I wish I had better news for those of you that hold gift certificates from them but I regrettably do not.

This sort of thing should be illegal. Letting people purchase gift certificates when you know darn well that you will be closing within the next 3 months. Purchased gift certificate in May, closed in August. Not right.

I've known of places that sold gift certificates up until their last day in dusiness. Pretty sleazy, IMO.

some companies had a rule that gift cards depreciate a certain amount after a period of non-use and somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 states have passed legislation outlawing that pratice (if memory serves me correctly)

I have a $50 giftcard that I got as a gift- I'm highly upset that I won't be able to use it. IS there anyone who will honor them or someone we can contact?

Michele that actually makes sense and I don't know why I didn't think of that before. WIS has prided themselves in their 'get results' attitude and maybe those of you that hold gift certificates from them can see what type of mountains WIS can move.
WIS has long been the midlands news leader and I have a rule of "never speak ill of a WIS personality"

Don't think they are under any obligation to make good on those. It would be a great PR move if another salon accepted those, maybe on a 50% return rate. In your case, $25 of services for a $50 gift card. I cannot imagine purchasing a $400 gift card to a salon. Wow! We purchased a Groupon for Z's Pizza. Once the Lexington location went out of business, we high-tailed it to Gervais Street! Glad we did. I know this is different, that you could not have predicted the closure. Good luck!

If you have unused gift certificates our day spa will accept them if you are willing to pay 25% of value of the certificates. I know it is hard when you have already paid to pay more but we only ask for this nominal amount to cover our costs, since we did not receive any of the funds from the purchase of the gift cards. If you have any question contact me at 803-254-4055 or visit tranquilmomentsdayspa.com.

For those with Logan Raye gift certificates and for those looking for an awesome spa experience. I just came back from Tranquil Moments Day Spa (see Michael Arket's post). They DID honor my gift certificate from Logan Raye, but more importantly, I found a jewel in a spa treatment venue. This place was incredible. I went in with a week-old headache, but now it is gone. The service was professional and so relaxing. The staff is extremely friendly. They did not have to do what they did because they received none of the money Logan Raye took in for gift certificates. Please... try them.

I am glad I could get the ball rolling. So they are picking up 75% value? That is outstanding!

Jonthan,
Tranquil Moments policy has always been to accept gift certificates that are expired or from spa that have closed for 25% of the value paid. In fact, we even offered to have Logan Raye offer all of those people with outstanding gift certificates that option but they declined. Feel free to spread the word to anyone you know, we will gladly be able to help them.7 Mar 12 at 5:00 pm

For those who bought gift certificates, I'm pretty sure you got taken. They will talk some fancy pants England speaking garbage and tell you that it's not their problem. Had a gift certificate problem with them in the past, went to State Attorney General's office, would have been able to get my issue resolved, but the main point was that I didn't have my receipt anymore, so I got screwed out of money by these scam artists.

I am glad that I found out more about this place. I was considering taking a job as an esthetician there and I just felt "weird" about the woman I talked to. Thanks!

The website says "Thanks for 10 great years! Logan Raye" so it is closed for sure.
