The Post & Courier reports that Jay's liquor, beer & wine licenses were revoked on 6 May, so I'm using that date for the closing.

This place had apparently been on the edge for a while as there had been a number of incidents, such as a shooting on 29 March as reported on WIS.

Lots of businesses have come and gone in this long depot building, but I don't see that I have specifically done any postings on Suite D, and I can't recall was was here before. Anyway, its the Vista so I'm sure something new will be in before long.

  1. The best thing that used to be in that strip of stuff was Beaulahs. World of Beer is a distant second. Vista is doing the crawl to generica Columbia loves so much.

  2. Although it had a very short lifespan, The Sly Fox was pretty great. Locally owned. Great food. 0 problem to the surrounding community (in stark contrast to this place).

  3. I loved going to the Sundance and the Wild Hare. They had really great cheese fries. I think this was also Dixie Seafood before Sundance.

  4. Badger - You've mentioned cheese fries here before, I think. Would you list your Top 3 (or Top 5?) cheese fries in the Columbia or Lexington area?

  5. Some of the best I've had recently, and have been good over the years are (in no particular order):

    Texas Roadhouse
    Chili's
    Carolina Wings (Fish Hatchery)
    Henry's (Buffalo Chip Overload)
    Hemingway's

And if you're interested in reading cheese fries reviews, I'll invite you to look at this facebook thread (it's public, so you don't need an account, I think). In the last post a familiar chap posts a link to an album of cheese fries from all over the country.
