Anna's Linens replaced (after a hiatus) Lifeway Christian Stores in Harbison Court in late 2011. Now some three plus years later, they are gone as well, and Harbison Court is undergoing fairly extensive facade work and renovation. On the whole I am impressed with how they have kept the place up and made good such major losses as Barnes & Noble and Officemax.

In the meantime, Anna's still has two Columbia locations, one on Forest Drive and another on Two Notch.

They should open this throughway and tie it back into Bower Pkwy. This would give a much needed second way to get in and out of this mall.

Other than the one without a light or by cutting behind the mall to Bower, neither of which are advisable.....

What Homer said makes WAY too much sense for the powers that be in that area to consider it.

JBL is sadly correct that it makes too much sense.

I think the reason the backway to Bower Parkway Homer envisions doesn't exist stems from the fact that Harbison Court* was built before Bower Parkway was even thought of. I can think of 3 exits out of Harbison Court aside from the signalized one but the probelm is that Harbison Traffic (especially on the two on the Chili's/Starbucks/Chipolte side of the facility) is that the traffic is backed up that it. I myself have envisioned it but I don't know how feasible it'd be given what has now come along on the stretch of Bower Parkway where it'd come out.

    * I did some research several years ago and found out that Harbison Court opened in 1990 (same year as Columbiana Centere). Bi-Lo at 275 Harbison Blvd. opened in 1987 so I think Harbison Center around then (then in February 2002 they relocated to 6021 St. Andrews Road). Bower Parkway was reworked in its current form in the 2000-01 timeframe.

I've seen several YouTube videos about how different cities would a smart system to time the signals so that everyone moves along at a decent pace and it leaves me wishing that someone could implement something along those lines on Harbison...

Folks, this space isn't staying vacant for long as Five Below will be opening up here...

I find it interesting that Five Below opened up in this spot. It is right next door to Dollar Tree. The junk they carry is too similar to the junk Dollar Tree sells. My money says one of the two will end up leaving.

One of the things I was taught in a business course is that it is better to have two dry cleaners on a street corner than one.

We will see how these close neighbors play out.
