T-Bones (no relation to Tbonz) was in Murrells Inlet on the US-17 bypass almost directly across the street from the old Rosa Linda's South.
I only ate at T-Bones once that I can recall, and that would have been not too many years after they opened in 1988. I had a burger, and it was pretty good.
I'm not sure why I never went back -- perhaps because there were closer options for burgers, and because I have a general list of favorites I try to hit when I'm at the beach. At any rate, though I didn't stop again, I often admired the best slogan on the beach as I was driving by, though I would have used a colon instead of a comma.
I noticed this weekend that the place was closed, and the realty sign suggested it was not an entirely voluntary state, which the article linked above confirms. Of course it would seem so far that closing it didn't actually help the bank that much..

The more I think about it, and I am thinking about it, maybe a surf a turf route would have been a better track to take.
T-Bones is a good name but, I am a big believer in having just the right name for any business. It needs to sound BIG.
Right off the cuff a Seafood joint could be "Inlet Seafood and Oyster Bar. I don't know where that came from, it just sounds like a place I would try. It needs to sound and look like something nation wide. I believe to be successful, a place needs to have a name that sounds successful, and looks successful. This gets people in, then the cleanliness, quality and service keeps them coming back. Maybe T-Bones Surf and Turf. I do like the catchphrase/slogan "Catch of The Day, Cow." But this is Murrells Inlet. Remember Steak and Ale in Columbia, they had a great surf and turf, Prime Rib and Lobster. I craved it. Anything named Captains... what ever, like Captains Kitchen makes me think of just so so seafood. Captain Joe's, would you go there? Maybe once. And nothing like Harbor Seafood here in Columbia, you get more than you can eat but the next day I feel like I need to be exfoliated due to all the grease the food was fried in. Anyway who would want seafood out of a harbor in the US. When I think of harbor I think of ships and boats dumping contaminants in the ocean. Okay, 'Nuff said. I do not get to Murrells Inlet nearly as much as I once did. The last time I was there was probably back in 1999. This is because from the time I was one year old until around 1973 my family spent a lot of time in Surfside and Garden City Beaches. Then my Wife and I would go to the either beach a dozen times a year, this is of course when I was in business for myself, could take off anytime I wanted and could afford it. Eventually we got burnt out on the area. So with that said I do not remember eating there even as often as we did go to the inlet, when we did go, it was for seafood. However, in the photo's posted, and maybe due to being somewhat older, I see this little place in a different light. I like the way it looks, inviting, it is a nice looking, clean building. Now, I would probably go there. Hard to imagine why they had to close in my humble opinion. Maybe for the same reason I did not go. As Ted mentioned I can get a burger, and for that matter a steak closer to home. When in Rome (or the inlet) do as the Romans do, Eat Seafood. I have been kicking around the idea for years about going back into business and I would love to have this place, unfortunately the wife is dead set against a restaurant and I don't have the money anyway. But again I really like the building and I'm sure someone will be able to make a go of it. Just not me.
