I had meant to do this post before Free Comic Book Day which was
2 May 2015, but that was not to be.
At any rate, as reported by commenter James R, Comic Nirvana has moved from in front of Best Buy in Lexington to
The Smith Centre just south of the I-20 Waffle House.
I have to say it's not an easy location to find. They have listing on the roadside marquee for the office plaza, but actually
locating the store is a bit of a puzzle. In the event, you can't see it from the default parking area in front, you have to dri
ve around back and duck into a little back nook. Hopefully they will have some more directional signs up soon, along with their
main storefront sign. In fact, they may by now as these pictures are a week or two old.

Ted's description of finding the store's new location seems to confirm my original comment that Comic Nirvana's move is a bad one for a retail shop. Given the difficulty in locating the store, the traffic flow and visibility will be greatly reduced. That cannot bode well for attracting new customers, but maybe they have a really strong following of existing customers.

I was rooting around in the attic a couple of weeks ago and ran across a couple of boxes of comic books. Most of them were from the 80's but there were a few that were from the 60's. They were all dog eared and discolored and some of them had most of the covers ripped off. On top of that, I though I could do a better job than the inkers did so I had attempted to recolor some of the panels with crayons. I picked out one, it was a book that DC put out in the 60's called Sugar and Spike. They were to infants that could communicate with other toddlers and were always getting into some kind of off the wall situation. Well, for grins I looked the book up on a comic book price website and in mint condition it was worth $3500! Even fair condition was like $100. The didn't have a price for CRAP condition. If only we'd have known or cared when we were kids....lol

@ Homer - For me it was baseball cards and Hot Wheels / Matchbox cars. I decided that when my son starts collecting, I will buy two of everything and put one up. I will give him the second set of whatever it is when he turns 21 and better understands the value of things.

@James R - I've still got a bag full of baseball cards in a closet. I pulled them out about six months ago and looked through them. I didn't even recognize most of the names.
As far as my Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars... Let's just say I used to strand them on the tracks of my train set and slam the train into them at full speed. That should give you an idea of what kind of shape they were in.
AND my GI Joe had a clothespin leg thanks to being caught in a fireworks explosion......

I had hot wheels when I was growing up and still have most of them...I also had a couple of train sets growing up but never mixed the two...now I have a 1B= year old nephew and wonder what type of things I will enjoy with him as he ages into the demographic for that type of stuff..
I never warmed up to baseball cards as pro sports didn't interest me much.
This relocation seems like a downgrade to me for some reason...

I've been a customer for a long time and know the owner well, most of the business is subcriber based. It is a bit tucked away but given that it's a niche market it has not affected business.
