Chick-fil-A, 1301 Main Street: 25 February 2012 6 comments
This Chick-Fil-A on Main Street next to the old Downtowner Motor Inn closed last week after being unable to agree a new lease with the building owner.
With this store closing not too long after the Five Points location opened, the number of downtown Chick-Fil-As is back to one.
The cows are gonna be unhappy..

Well, they're both "1301 Main", so probably so.

It's too bad that whomever it was changed the looks of the downtowner. It would be VERY retro now. Was Bob Coble part of that along with the destruction of downtown's historical buildings?

Actually that corner and more was the original site of the Jerome Hotel. I dont remember it, but I think it was torn down to make room for the Downtowner and other buildings.

I always enjoyed visiting this restaurant; the staff was always very friendly and helpful, and the food was always fresh, hot, and good. I really hate they had to close and hope they can find somewhere else on Main Street at some point.

There is a liquor license permit posted on the door of this building; it looks like Cantina 76 will be opening another location in spot.

I thought this used to be part of the old Downtowner originally?..but could be wrong. I know it's been there a LONG time though.
