Bojangles, 542 Saint Andrews Road: mid 2000s 8 comments
I'm not a big fan of chicken -- in fact, the smell of it puts me off a restaurant. I'm also not a big fan of breakfast. Well, that's not true exactly; it's more that I'm not a big fan of waking up early enough to have time for breakfast. I like bacon, eggs, grits and biscuits as well as anyone. So on those rare occasions when everything comes together and I'm on the move -- Bojangles makes a very good sausage biscuit!
Perhaps not enough other people think so though as this Bojangles location on Saint Andrews Road near the dollar cinemas has been gone for a while now. I'm not sure what the story on the property is. The for-sale (reduced!) sign suggests that it has been unsuccessfully on the market for a while, but I can't figure out why anyone would be doing work on the building in that case as seems to be happening.
UPDATE 7 October 2009: Looks like the building will be The Delhi Palace Indian restaurant. I'm not sure if that means The Delhi Palace will be moving from The Economy Inn on Broad River Road, or if this will be a second location.
UPDATE 10 November 2009: Add street address to post title.
UPDATE 23 February 2024: Adding map icon and updating tags.

I remember Rax but I think it was up the road a bit. Probably where the Arby's is. As long as I can remember this was bojangles. I remember going to Rax at Trenholm plaza a lot. It's now bank of america. I also loved the Rax in Hilton Head.

wait forget what I said about the Rax not being there. I was thinking of the bojangles on two notch by the mall.

Rax was bought out by Arby's and all or most were converted to Arby's. Personally I liked Rax better.

This was a Rax at one time. I remember it changed into a healthy fast food place for a short time before it became Bojangles. It was the same restaurant that was located where Harpers in Five Points is now.

I rode by the building this morning, and there is a sign for a Dehli Palace. It's not open yet.

I've had a debate with several friends that this was a chain place called 'Rax'. Thanks for settling the score. I just remember Rax milkshakes having real pieces of chocolate in them. Like they drizzled in magic shell when making them. They were the best!
I see they still have locations in VA, and a bad wrap about being a dirty place to eat. I have nothing but fond memories.

@ Matt, sometimes memories are all we have...and that is not always a bad thing. I would stop again if we went to Virginia, but honestly Arby's will do the deed if I got the urge again.

I remember this was a Rax, in fact, that was what it was built for, I'm almost sure. That would have been in the mid-1980's. I was in Va. a couple of years ago, and we stopped at a Rax and ate. I miss them! I'm always sad when a Bojangles shutters.
