Lizard's Thicket, 3147 Forest Drive: 11 May 2026 (Temporary) 7 comments
This Lizard's Thicket, in a former Shoney's building on Forest Drive is closed for renovations. The chain just redid one in Lexington as well, so perhaps they are looking to freshen up several sites. Of course, to my memory, the one on Beltline was updated and nonetheless closed.
I last at at this one on my niece's birthday last December, and it was fine: Your typical Lizard's experience. I don't recall noticing anything particularly wrong with the physical plant, but who knows what kind of issues there might be behind the counters.

Yep. This location was a KFC in the 70s, then a Biscuit House in the early 80s.

Shoney's was the only thing I knew about. I was 4 in 81, and don't recall the biscuit house.

Monterrey at the Vista at 931 Senate St. has announced that their last day at this location will be on May 30th. They are moving to 700 Gervais St.
From the comments, it appears that their current location will be demolished so that apartments can be built there. If that's the case, be on the lookout for relocations or closings for Five Guys, and The Flying Saucer in the near future.

Before a Shoney's was built there, it was a Biscuit House. That was my introduction to breakfast biscuits and they made wonderful honeybuns. It was razed around 1981 to build the Shoneys.
