Starbucks, 747 Saluda Avenue: 2 April 2023 4 comments
I still think of this store as fairly new, but according to all the closing stories, it's been here about 20 years now. I also had it in my head that it stayed open later in the evening than the other local stores, but I can't verify that now, and for the final run, it's only open to 6PM, which is kind of ridiculous for a coffee bar in an entertainment district.
The company hasn't given any specific reasons for closing this stor, but I do note that it has no drive-through. You can read the story in The State, or at WLTX.
I'm trying to think if I ever stopped at this store, and I believe I did, once, about five years ago. It was your standard Starbucks experience.

Justin, that is probably a good guess. Mobile ordering is more popular now, and a lot of customers who do mobile orders, want to use a drive-thru. People steal food/drinks from the mobile order pick-up space inside the building. If the employees are not familiar with you, anyone could just walk in and take your drink, with no reason for anyone to question them. It's happened to me. I don't blame the employees, since they are very busy.

LOL. That reminds me. My wife had a mobile order stolen at Target! Target leaves the mobile orders sitting out in carts by check out. People pick through them and either pay for or outright walk out the door with the merch.

Thanks for sharing. I was going to try their Target's mobile pick-up sometime, but now I might not! I dislike Walmart, but at least some of their locations have lockers for pick-up orders.

This Starbucks was one that trialed the short-lived evening beer-and-wine concept several years ago. Much like the store in the Vista, I presume this one was closed due to lack of drive-thru opportunity.
