Cupcake DownSouth, 1213 Lincoln Street: 7 December 2022 4 comments
I am not much for cupcakes (or cakes at all, for that matter), but I did notice Cupcake DownSouth on a walk through The Vista back in March of 2012, when, apparently, they did not have the word(s) DownSouth on their sign.
Commenter Mr. Hat reported this closing, which is confirmed on their Facebook. Apparently there is a Mount Pleasant location which will be open for an additional week.
(Hat tip to commenter Mr. Hat)

Joe, that is interesting. A lot of these bakery businesses seemed to have opened in the past two or three years. Some are already closed, like this one, or changed names. I wonder if it’s a business that people think will be easy and a quick profit.
I don’t know how accurate this is, but I heard something similar about dance studio businesses. Some of them are little more than low-effort daycare places, where the teachers watch dance videos and then show the kids a few moves that they just learned.

I had the pleasure of eating some of their cupcakes and found them to be really good.

Here's a link to the story. Apparently to cost of doing business became too great for them.

I ran the numbers several years ago concerning the required sales of these cupcake and cookie stores and determined they must be mostly a hobby. It is painful to think of capital lost.
