Moms On Main was the follow-up in this storefront to the relocated Al-Amir, though the building is probably still best remembered for The Elite Epicurean.

An article in ColaDaily pegged Moms to open around New Years of 2020, and I suppose it did, though unfortunately I never got around to going there.

The article quotes some reactions to the forthcoming opening, and I have to show one as it turned out to be so sadly, and badly, wrong for all of us:

  1. I ate there once, on a busy Saturday night, and there was no one there. My date and I sat in the expansive dining area, and ordered entrees and drinks. Service was fine, but it felt really casual, as though it was a local diner. I had the "famous" shrimp and grits and it was incredibly salty. Overall it was a good experience but nothing that made me excited to go back. The place had a lot of potential. Sad to see it go but not surprised.

  2. We got lunch here a few times and, like Mike said, the food was fine but very, very salty. This location in general is doomed until more residential apartments or condos move further north on Main Street. I worked in this building when it was LaVecchia's in the early 2000s and there were nights when we had zero tables.

  3. Wonder if that is going to be one of those cursed spots that nothing ever thrives there.
