When the Hardee's co-located with this S-Mart closed last year, I figured it was some sort of issue specific to that franchaise, or Hardee's in general, but with the closing of the S-Mart as well, it seems more like perhaps the restaurant lease was just up first and there are plans to re-purpose the whole property.

Looking at the work going on, it appears to be an extensive re-model, but not a demolition and re-build.

  1. I understand it is being remodeled and will re-open as a 7/11. The Hardees is being converted to a Burger King according to a help wanted poster on the site.

  2. The Shell Station at 7703 Broad River Road was a Pitt Stop that had a Burger King attached to it...when Brandi, Inc. brought the BK's back in 2002 (after they closed up the year prior stemming from issued with the franchisee they had at the time) it was one of the first Burger Kings to reopen. The Burger King is still open but the convenience store is being overhauled into a 7-11 and it sounds like something similar is in the works with ths one...

  3. @ted, I was taking a look at google maps, and when you hover over the gas canopy, google maps says "SHELL". I wonder if it is still an exxon, or if shell bought it...
