Shell Food Mart, 911 South Lake Drive: August 2019 4 comments
Commenter ED says this Shell Food Mart has closed in part to make room for a new Quick Trip truck stop at this exit.
As it happens, I stopped at this store a while ago when I had an interview in the area and had a few minutes to kill before-hand. I have to admit to being pretty unimpressed with the place, and I notice that there is a nice, new, Circle K across the street now, so I wonder if that didn't figure into the decision to sell vs having to put a good bit of money into the place to compete.
This lot abuts the old, derelict Hardee's which previously featured here, and you can see it in some of the shots.

I've noted for several weeks now that the Hardee's next door to this has had signage saying the property was under contract...

I have a feeling that the Chef Craw restaurant behind the Shell station will also be going away as part of the new truck stop. This was the follow on restaurant to Buckets and Chicken Shack on Glassmaster Road. Chef Craw closed in March after suffering storm damage. According to the their facebook page, they were supposed to reopen in a couple of weeks but never did.

The shell, the restaurant, and the Hardee’s are all being demolished to make way for the Columbia areas first QT (Quiktrip) location.

Omg. I don't even live out that way anymore and I hope they use this opportunity to get rid of that godforsaken Hardees! It's been boarded up for at LEAST 20 years!!
