H. Rubin Vision Center, 901 Bush River Road: Summer 2018 5 comments
After commenter MJ mentioned that this place, at the corner of Bush River Road & Morninghill Drive, might be closed, I went to check it out, but I could never be completely sure. The delivery notice post-its stuck to the door made me 99% sure, but there were no actual posted hours I could verify it not being open at, and looking in the windows, all the furnishings and glasses seemed to be in place. There was a sign on the door, but it was facing inwards, and illegible.
That was in June. Going back a few days ago, the situation is now clear, with a sheriff's notice and a real estate sign. However, the interior still looks largely untouched.

I would guess that the Vision Center at the Walmart down the street killed their business when they opened a few years back.

H Rubin was always an odd chain, interesting to see them die the way they lived... odd

Don't know if chain is struggling nationwide or just here, but back in Sept 2017, I got eye exam, contact and glasses prescription and ordered glasses. Glasses were to take 2-3 weeks. 4 weeks later heard nothing. Finally, shortly before Christmas I called and demanded a refund. Caroline, a long time manager, could not have been nicer. I think I was not the first to ask. I also was ordering glasses from an online site but needed a certain measurement that my prescription didn't have. Caroline told me I could stop by and get it done, but that Forest Drive location had closed and I'd have to go to this one, which has now also closed.

This address will soon be home to a Checkers restaurant. Another location has already opened at 7373 Two Notch Rd. (next to Bar Harbor Seafood).
Yay!

Something odd about this, the one in Cayce, has had a sign saying, Grand Opening, for years. I think it recently closed too.
