Comment: My Lord, how many business have been in this building? Another blow to the 'International Corridor'...haha. The whole Decker, Parklane and Two Notch area is nothing more than NE Columbia's version of Broad River, Bush River and St. Andrews on my side of town. Nothing more than a dump!!

I had a friend who lived on Decker Blvd. when I was in college and I mentioned to him how I had felt everything had moved off of Decker Blvd...his response was, "except the gangs."

Decker Mall is undergoing an overhaul to house Richland County offices from what I've read.

Blockbuster Video now houses some type of Jewish Center.

I wish someone would set up shop in the old Red Lobster & Olive Garden buildings.

Rush's contiunes to hum along as does a remodeled Chick-Fil-A and even a Little Caesars, Bi-Lo, Food Lion and even a Baby Furniture Plus store but the move of Target, Kroger, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and TJ Maxx out to Sparkelberry Square and Village at Sandhill (that area) has caused me to feel that Decker isn't as strong as it once was though it handles b 26K VPD.

I hate to say it but Unless Spinoso can work some type of magic on Columbia Place Mall, that mall is liable to get lonelier and lonelier.

@Andrew - amen to your friend!! There are only four possible reasons for me to wander over to Decker, all at lunch. Three are Egg Roll Express, Chick-Fil-A and Rush's. The fourth isn't lunch related but the liquor store in the Bi-Lo shopping center is often manned by a 'well endowed' girl whose favorite outfits are short-shorts and cut-off t-shirts. Well worth the trip!!

Other than that, they could nuke the whole area and I wouldn't care.

Andrew, those 26,000 VPD is through traffic between I-77 and Two Notch.
Decker Blvd. retailers do not have that kind of a draw.

There are some nice neighborhoods just a few blocks off Decker toward town that probably support the BI-LO, although my guess is they most likely shop the Forest Drive/Trenholm Road/Two Notch Road area.

Andrew, where on Decker did your friend live? Not many houses that are actually on Decker. Maybe one, or two houses between Pep Boys and Crossfield. Or, somewhere down near the old Dino's and Percival. Welesley Place Apts must now be Section 8 housing. Hate to say it, but your friend must have been hurting to live "on" Decker.
Decker Mall was hopping back in the day. Kroger, Richway, Land of Oz arcade, Chances teen night club, a record store. Gen X moved away after high school from the lining neighborhoods around Forest Lake between Decker and Lakeshore, and the area just fell apart. The last straw for me was when Dino's closed. I only go over there now to hit up Rush's, and it's a shame to look at Decker Mall.

palmettoconnection, sounds like you are in my age range. I'm 43 and my parents have lived in Woodfield since 84, they are still there, but of course I'm not.

Speaking of places to eat on Decker, if you haven't tried the taco trucks, you really should try them out. They are really good but a little expensive. But well worth the money. There is a truck that sits across from The Decker Center (1945 Decker Blvd). This guy is moving into a building that is being built on Percival Rd next to the old upholstery place between Morninglo and Fairlamb Ave. You guys should try it out.

All the gang talk is more hype than anything. Sure there are gangs in the area, but it's not like they are out on the streets 24/7 watching and robbing everyone who comes on Decker. I'm on Decker all the time (days, nights and weekends) and it really isn't bad at all as far as gang activity.

I don't think (now that I think about it) that my friend actually lived on Decker but he lived in one of those neighborhoods but I'm not sure of the details and I don't think he lives there anymore because of life's changes in the interviening years he's had...

Several people here hype Bush River Road as a bad street but I have a relationship with Bush River Road similar to what Sidney has with Decker Blvd.

I have many happy memories of Decker and hope that the international corridor survives.
