I thought I had a picture of this place in operation, but find I can't put my hands on it now.

This Richland Mall storefront is the old Eckerd's location, and I believe that up until the time Posh Pets grooming moved in, it had been vacant since the closing of that store. I am also pretty sure that for some reason, while it was Posh Pets the location had no interior signage or mall access.

I believe that Posh was only here for a year or two and has sinced moved out to Fort Jackson Boulevard and Sparkleberry.

UPDATE 11 November 2014 -- Here are those pictures I was looking for with the place in operation:

  1. I still say tear that Mall down except for Belks, and rebuild it as it originally was before this thing came along and took its place. Things need to go back to very "retro". Sure make it modern with modern stores/shops, but somethin' has GOT to be done with that place. Posh Pets never had a chance there.. it's just not your typical Pet Store and not for Columbia.

  2. This weekend The State had a writeup on the area malls and here's what they say about Richland Mall:

In the last decade it flipped-flopped from being Richland Mall, Midtown at Forest Acres to back to being known as Richland Mall.

Currently 29 of the 87 available spaces are occupied. Most of the tenants that Century Capitol Group (for whom we can thank for reviving the Richland Mall name in 2010) have brought in are non-retailers such as a koozie manufacturer, a karate group and even theater groups. Quite a few they've had have come and gone and this mall faces an uncertain future.

I know CayceKid has repeatedly expresses a wish that it be rebuilt in its pre-1988 form but I don't see it happening unless there are people willing to fill the spaces once it's finished.
