Bojangles, 2737 Sunset Boulevard: Late November 2013 (moved) 10 comments
This Bojangles right across Sunset Boulevard from the Lexington Medical Center has moved a bit down the hill to the other side of Atlanta Bread. As far as I can see, the new location doesn't have anything to recommend it over this lot (neither has stoplight access) -- I guess they just didn't want to have any downtime such as would be caused by remodeling this building without having a way to make sales in the meantime. (Though that is what McDonalds and Burger King have in fact done for their recent upgrades).
There is a stream behind this lot, which could be nice with a bit of work -- at present it is unfortunately pretty much trashed. As commenter James noted in his initial comment about this site, it is very odd that they do not have a side exit out of this parking lot to join with the access road going to the medical offices. This would have given them stoplight access, something Atlanta Bread was determined to do, even though getting to the road from their lot required an unusually steep out ramp, and a circuitous path through their neighbor's lot.
UPDATE 21 January 2014: Commenter James mentions that they actually moved after Thanksgiving 2013, so I ahve changed the date in the post title from "January 2014" to "Late November 2013".
UPDATE 21 January 2017: Here are some pix of the Carolina Payday Loans now on the site:

I agree Jason. Based on how quickly they changed the awnings and removed the freestanding Bojangles sign, I thought something was moving in as well. I think the freestanding sign may even have come down before Bojangles actually vacated the building. With the Burger King across the interstate closing several months ago, I could see them reopening here. In either case, the blue awnings make the building slightly more attractive than the Bojangles orange. Perhaps the owner didn't want the eyesore of the orange. At least the blue blends in with the sign for Sunset Medical Park right next to the building.

Ted,
They actually moved the week after Thanksgiving in 2013. According to one article the move was suppose to occur in December, but the contractor seems to have gotten the job done ahead of schedule.
I ate at the new Bojangles in December and won't go back. Maybe it's just me, but the new building didn't help the service issues. Totally screwed up my order after making THREE requests for "no mayo" on my sandwich and specifically asking if they got that information because it did not show on the drive-thru screen. I had had similar service issues at the old location.

I've never been a big fan of Bojangle's but I doubt a Burger King would set up shop at this site because they have another Brandi, Inc. BK at 378 & Leaphart (3809 Sunset Blvd) that I think Brandi, Inc. built with the idea that it would draw from both I-26 and I-20. The old one on the other side of I-26 (2514 Sunset Blvd) held on longer than I thought it would.
I could see this being an opportunity for another restaurant to have a go at it...I think the close proximity to I-26 would draw plenty of road travelers and plus Lexington Medical Center patients and people tending to said patients (family, friends, staff, clergy, etc.) would help build a prospective customer base.
Possibilities that spring to mind: PDQ, KFC, Popeye's, Zaxby's, Wendy's, Hardee's, Arby's, Cookout or Jack in the Box (none of these have an established location along this stretch of 378).
There is also a possibility that it could become a bank or doctor's office...

Well, as I said, above, the lot would be a lot more attractive with stoplight access. I wonder what the reason there is none is. Perhaps the grade is too steep down to the road for a straight driveway. I guess if the owners could have fixed that, they would have by now...
@James, I will correct the date.

There is already a stoplight right at Sunset Court...they should have done a pass through there.

The Carolina Payday Loan place mentioned as having taken over this fomer Bojangle's is now closed...
I have my fingers crossed for one of the eating places I mentioned in a prior comment on this page to set up shop here (hopefully this will pave the way)...

The ever changing awning of a different color. First orange (Bojangles), then Blue (on the market), Red (Carolina Payday Loan), and now green. Makes my eyes hurt.

It's been painted green because Lexington Medical Center purchased the property a few months ago. They haven't announced plans for the building yet.

I really thought something else was moving into the old location fairly quickly, with the awnings turning Burger King blue right away. But either something was planned and it fell through, or the property owner just wanted to make the place look more generic to attract a future tenant, because it hasn't changed a bit.
